Yes the fires are terrible. Some have been started by lightening or misfortune and some by arsonists (my thoughts on what should happen to them are un printable). The loss of life is getting close to 200 and there are more to come, nearer to 800 homes lost as well. Country fire volunteers have had to deal with horrific conditions, and tragidy. I am in the State emergency service (Search and rescue) in a region called the Otways which is in the south west of Victoria, I thought about going up to help but they are heseitant to take volunteers from our area as we live near and in quite heavy bushland as well, and are concerned that if something similar happens in our region the results will be about the same.
They are the worst fires in history, whole towns have been levelled, families destroyed and it is hard to watch the news without shedding a tear, and I am no sook.
