The "Fat" virus

Postby Kurt (Indiana) » Mon Jan 26, 2009 8:21 pm

Not sure how many of you saw this in the news today, but it sure explains why I have gained some weight over the holidays.
I must have been bitten buy the "Fat Bug".

I knew there was a reason.

I sure hope a vaccine comes out soon.

Id say the truth is more about what kind of food people eat. Junk Food for one.

Shocking though.

Yes indeed it is a disease. Its as such here in Scandinavia as well. Here surgury is becoming more and more used on this all the time.

It is probably true. Problem is it is a virus and the fat cells multiply while the virus runs it's course. Next problem---fat cells get fat or skinny but but in our society few go away.

Wonder if anyone is going to destroy a multi-billion dollar industry by finding a way to kill this virus.

I'm glad that nothing I do is my fault any more. I can blame anything I do, say, and think on a disease now-a-days.

I think that is why the 'medical establishment' will always deny that this idea could have any truth in it. I think it may be true, but it's probably not a highly important factor - unlike what we eat.

The US has kept good enough weight statistics that the increase in obesity can be monitored not just nationally but by state - and that data shows a disease-like spread of high level of obesity, starting near the Gulf Coast in the 1960s and spreading to the rest of the US by the 1990s. Of course that could be just the spread of a social phenomenon (eg, not worrying about being obese), but it does also fit an infectious pattern.

And MacDonalds reported an 80% increase in profits in 2008.

I say make smaller clothes, that way people would have to lose wieght to fit into them. Also then I could buy new jeans, very hard to find 28/32 anymore, and 29/32 just about fall off of me.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

You will either have to shop high end stores or the student sizes in department stores. 8) Cheaper that way anyway.

Do you really want to see the result of that for those who cannot comply?

I share your problem in the 30/30 size even a belt dosen't help. Must be because men don't have hips  Seems in today's world there is always a medical explanation for peoples problems since a lot of folks refuse to be accountable for their own actions. The expansion of fast food/convenience foods has affected people's weight world wide. Danny

Actually this may be a good thing.

If they are telling us that this germ "multiplies fat cells" they should be able to analyze it and figure out how to decrease fat cells.

As far as people who do "not comply" if they were forced to wear smaller clothes, there is already a picture of that in the article that was shared....

Did we really have to see that???

I keep telly my wife that now there is medical proof as to why I have to start kissing skinny girls, and she replies "why would you want to make a total stranger fat?"
