Thomas, I had the same thoughts as you. They just kicked the front door in and came in and grabbed some things almost like they knew where they were going.
Mark, I keep some of my tools inside because I don't have room in the garage (can only use one bay). The tools I use on a regular basis - routers, drills/drivers, skill saws, jig saw, belt sander, etc. - are still in the garage, scattered.
As probably most, I didn't have pictures or inventory of serial #s. For some dumb reason, especially after being in construction for about 15 years, I didn't have any markings on my tools either.
Last night I thought I would begin the inventory of everything else, but found out that I need to add our digital camera to the list of items taken. As much as I don't like them, I may take a look at security system (alarm only, no monitoring) and/or a home brew cctv setup tied into our home network.
