Hello, from Louisiana...

This is the place where you can introduce yourself, and include a photo if so desired.

I think the diner back then was "Bay's Diner", or just "The Diner". That was the only one on Hwy. 1.

Becca,

I'm not sure of the name. That WAS a long time ago, you know. Anyway, the cafe wasn't on Hwy. 1. It was on Hwy 69, one block of Hwy 1, before crossing the tracks(the road to Pierre Part).
I travel through White Castle a few times a year, so I'm familiar with it.

John T.,

I'll be up your direction soon. DW and I are going to Pigeon Forge and Maggie Valley in May. How far are you from there?

va s'revoir,

Mike

Such a small world...I grew up on Hwy. 69, "Samstown" as we call it and all my family still lives there. My favorite place to eat in Pierre Part is "Landry's", a small family owned restaurant that has the best seafood and fresh of course. I am flying to LA on May 23 for that week to visit and a trip to Landry's is on the schedule. ;)

I now live on the outskirts of Tampa, FL. Don't like it here and hope one day to retire in Louisiana. Don't know if I mentioned that I had relatives in Morgan City but they have all moved away. My half-brother grew up there, Rodney Richard, married and moved to Indiana. I would like to see Morgan City again. Did you ever go to Grand Isle?

The only diner's in town at that time were "George's Place" and "Vince's Cafe" but they were on Bowie Street, which eventually turns into Hwy. 69. But like you said, that was a long time ago.

Sure.
We used to go often years back. Now DW and I try to go once a year and buy fresh shrimp right of the boats. It's the largest and freshest shrimp you can get at a great price. Come to think of it, it'll soon be time to take a trip down that way.

Hi madprinter,

Looks like you're coming along nicely on your build.

I made a start on mine a couple weeks ago, but only completed the floor. I then fell sick and have been down for a while.
The material for the frame was delivered to my wife's place of work. Once I get to feeling better, I'll go pick it up and get started on the frame.

Later,
Mike
