Sounds like a good plan, Jack...if 1/16" stock works, that's all the better!

I'm making a note of the WhiteLighting3600...is that a "standard" hardware-store-type sealant?

I get it at Southerlands...a big box store...it is similar to regular siliconized acrylic painters caulk but with an ADHESIVE component to it...it has worked well for us everywhere we have used it, besides it's CHEAP(less than 3bucks a tube) and comes in colors...another alternative is plain ol' putty tape, available at most hardware, box and RV stores........

p.s. make sure you put a dab of sealant in all your predrilled screw holes..........MJ

David & all-

Going into the 5th season with mine. It was just screwed to the top of TD body & hatch w/ alum threshold strip.

Just redid the attachment because of a leak.:x

New plan...

I peeled back EDPM rubber roof slightly on TD body.
Installed hinge to ply roof.
Covered hinge with a strip of EDPM (centered over width of the hinge). Reglued rubber roof to this whole "stack".
Reattached threshold strip with S/S screws.

On the top of the hatch the hinge stayed on top of the EDPM & was covered with the other half of the EDPM strip and covered with another alum threshold strip.

Things I have learned or would do differently...

Predrill holes thru the hinge slightly larger than the diameter of the screws you are using, Reduces those mother puckers.

I shoulda run the EDPM over the body & hatch in one large piece & not cut it... Then applied the hinge over this; woulda eliminated any chance of leaks!

Hope my rambling helps?!

BTW:
Hinge itself is holding up just fine

Cheers,

Coop
