It just ain't that tuff boys!!!

I trashed a hub ( some dumb butt forgot to tighten the lug nuts) .It expired almost right in front of a mom and pop farm store. I sat the hub on the counter the clerk reached on a shelf almost directly behind him and handed me the hub and seal and bearing kit with dust cover total cost $28.00. Any good farm store will have them ! This was NOT a bearing failure it was a case of stupidity that chewed the lugs off of the hub and trashed a rim.
Growing older but not up !

I checked the trailerpartsdepot web site for wheel bearings & found everything listed there is SAE, not metric. The Harbor Freight bearings are metric. Are they interchangeable?

HF Wheel Bearings

Postby Cmdr » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:37 pm

ARTFD,
For my H.F. 5x8 trailer the Item # 81111 at www.trailerpartsdepot.com fit my wheels.....I used a micrometer and got an exact fit before I put it together...After I got the measurements I had to do some conversion from metric to SAE measurement....Hope that helps

To make it real simple all you had to do is type in the number 81111 in the search window of the web page for www.trailerpartsdepot.com and it would have come up......Now what I'm saying is that for "MY H.F. 5' x 8' trailer that kit fit.....However I bought mine towards the winter of 2008....IF Harbor Freight DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE MEAN TIME THEN YOU ARE IN LIKE FLYNN......

You can also buy a micrometer at Home Depot or Lowes for about $10. Do the measurement yourself.......OR take old parts into an RV Trailer supply house and they will match it up for you....

At the risk of repeating myself. We used a "Squeeze Ez" to grease all four of the bearings on the HF Trailer before putting it on the road. In preparation for moving the trailer back North, we checked the bearings planning to repack them. One of the inner bearings fell apart in my hand when we pushed it out of the race. We took the bearing to three different places before finding the exact replacement made by TIMKEN. The part numbers were the same. Our move North was close to three hundred miles. The three times we stopped I checked the bearing caps. They were stone cold every time.

Cmdr has it correct.
My HF bearings were numbered 30205 just like the TIMKEN bearings 30205.

:( Well I took a blind gamble and lost.

For future reference:

The #81111 Bearing kit is NOT the correct bearing set for the Harbor Freight Model 93747 5'x 8'Trailer.

If you have the Model 93747 HF Trailer DO NOT buy this Bearing set (#81111). Its NOT the right bearing.

After taking out my bearings they are stamped with 30205 and the manufacturer is ZYX

Shaft diameter=25mm, OD=52mm, Width=16.25mm
