I won't go into the "whys", but I recently found it necessary to "clean up" an old propane gas stove that I'd retrofitted into a teardrop something close to 20 years ago, so it could go into a new teardrop. What I started with was a Century Primus brand very similar to this one:
After completely disassembling the stove, I took all the tin to the powdercoater and had them sandblast everything and then cover it all with a nice coat of semi-gloss GI Green. After re-assembly and pre-fit into the drawer it is destined to go into, I thought it looked a little bland ... nice & new looking, but nothing special, ya know? So, I took some leftover countertop material that matched what is in the trailer, and trimmed it to fit the lid of the stove and glued it on. Then, I called on a pinstriper friend to lay down some red and yellow stripes to set everything off, and this is the result:
Now, for what I'm into this, I could have gone out and bought two brand new units with piezo-electric lighters and chrome splash guards ... but, they don't make 'em like this anymore (with the rubber gas-line that comes out on the left), and more importantly, no matter how bright & shiny & modern a new stove might have been, it just wouldn't end up "flowing & fitting" into its new home and looking like it is an integral part of the galley cabinetry (which I will show pictures of, soon!). Besides, it's all just part & parcel with the history & special features that are going into this teardrop ...

Thanks for looking!
