As a kid (I'm now just short of 50) my parents had a Wild Goose teardrop trailer that we used as a camp kitchen when camping in Northern California. In 1974 we had a pretty substantial flood that destroyed the trailer. The frame with axle, tires (still have air in them) etc. has been chained to a pepperwood since then (36+ years). The plan is to set it on a trailer, bring it home and start with a 'rebuild'. It will be interesting to see if the axle and suspension can be salvaged. The wheels and baby moon hubcaps look to be in good condition. I know my folks have a photo with it set up which I'll try to scan and post.
This looks like a great website with lots of good info. Looking forward to the build.

What an interesting family treasure. A legacy to hopefully hand down to the kids and grand kids. Hope you can reproduce the "Goose" as close as possible to the real thing. If there is any chance of finding the original title that would make this a rather valuable rebuild. Not just everyone has a 40 something wild goose trailer. Good Luck in the rebuild.

Thanks for the encouragement. Unless the data tag was on the frame it probably went in the Navarro River with the rest of the trailer. It was common practice back then to push old cars, stoves, tires and refrigerators over the side to help stabilize the river bank. Heck, pieces of the aluminum sides may still be there. The black license plate (60's California black and yellow) is still hanging on the wall in the cabin, so at least that will go back on.
I can still picture the trailer set up (we rarely put the canvas sides on) with Mom cooking dinner in it, Coleman canvas tent along side. With 6 brothers and sisters we never slept in the trailer but it is an iconic piece of our family history that will be fun to have back.
