OK, so a 5-footer it is with a fan. A good fan! Now a question from my husband. Which is lighter, aluminum, plywood with aluminum, or fiberglass and which would hold up better in the long run. We want to stay as light as possible, but I want to add a small fridge.

I suspect that aluminum would be the lightest... but I'll look at the numbers in the morning when I am a bit fresher...

Are you familar with the Modernistic? I think the weight was in the 300 lb range...

Most of the aluminum trailers you see are aluminum skin over plywood, and with you being in that there Valley, I would recommend insulation in walls, ceiling and floor, now there are different feelings here, but I am a So. Cal, Mojave desert camper for the most part, and the insulation helps to keep things cool in the summer as much as keeping things warm in the winter. The all aluminum TD's only had the sheet of aluminum between you and the outside, ever walk into a tin building in the Summer Sun......... enough said.

I love the Modernistic and those of it's ilk, but I would need to insulate that skin somehow.

I agree with you Al. But insulation doesn't add much weight. ;) :D

Typical Aspie have to know everything
I have been looking at composites for some time and one that looks very interesting is Compositek (Kaiser, their Mil spec stuff) can be used for floor walls roof, what ours is made of is an aluminum frame insulation and fiber reinforced plastic (FRP). Wood rots and you do not want treated wood, witness most of the restoration pictures.
