Terry, I use a router with a "slot cutter" bit to cut a 1/4 slot, the length of the material...this slot will be 3/4" deep...for a spine, I use(if available) 1/4 ply that is actually 1/4" thick and cut a strip 1&3/8th wide...useing epoxy(preferable with some filler), the 2 work pieces are joined by putting the strip in the slots and pulling the piece together(epoxy applied to ALL surfaces...minimal clamping is required, just enough to hold the pieces together while the epoxy sets...if you don't have 1/4" ply for the strip, use a hardwood strip cut the same and at least somewhat crossgrained...for 1/2" ply I use the bisquit method, Mark describes..............
