New skillet and grinder

Postby dguff » Mon Oct 05, 2009 4:42 pm

Coming home from the 'glyphs we stopped in Fallon NV at a sale and I picked up a Wagner "greaseless frying skillet" #1102K. Cleaned it up, seasoned and it works great as the grease and cooking oils run off to the trough around the cooking surface. Here in Eureka I picked up a Spong #4 coffee grinder that can be either wall or table top mounted. It needs cleaning and some paint but is mechanically fine.

Okay, you are now the official coffee grinder for LCG4.

We don't need greaseless cooking, though -- fat is the base of the food pyramid at LCG.

That trough on your skillet isn't really to get rid of the grease but to catch it so you can use it again. Wagner made three different 1102 greaseless skillets and I think you have the earliest one. Later ones have a different handle as well as a narrower trough. I never tried out any that I've had in the past but would think that it would be a fine pan.

Jerome...now you need one of those aluminum grease cans with the perforated top to set on your counter. Nice finds. Doug

Thanks for the background on the Spong. I had seen other sizes but the #4 really caught my eye with its large capacity. The Wagner griddle has been used several times and works just as advertised.
