We're hoping our camping days aren't completely over yet!
They're not. Keep an eye on your 10-day forecasts, pick a weekend that looks to be favorable and go for it at the last minute. Just pack additional clothing.
It is downright disappointing when we don't get the seasons we have learned to expect. We never got very many real hot days here, either...
Are you from the area originally? I ask because I have no idea how consistent the weather patterns have been in that region.
For example, where I live in coastal southern California with it's Mediterranean-style climate, there are no "normal" weather patterns, only trends. It literally has been determined that there is no consistent "average" weather in this region. I thought that to be odd when I first read it.
The trends I speak of are the Santa Ana Winds that typically occur in mid-to-late fall and can occur as well through February. Rainfall, as you may have heard, is never normal here. It rained over six inches one night in Sept. '04 from midnight to 5 am. I remember, as I had to work outdoors in it.
