Tilt trailer?

Postby synaps3 » Tue Nov 10, 2009 6:54 pm

Hey everyone. I've been lurking the forums for awhile, and finally am posting...

I'm designing a TTT, but it has to have dual functionality; I need to be able to haul my motorcycle in it, then stop and convert the rig into a camper.

This said, I have intrigued myself with the idea of using a tilt-trailer to accomplish this. Unfortunately, the only one near me that has been sold on Craigslist sold a week ago (it was only $300 too! :duh: ).

I have no welding experience, and have no plans to build my own chassis. That said -- anyone know where one can find a reasonably-priced tilt trailer?

Welcome to the board.

As for the trailer, I would keep searching Craigslist (even a ways away from your home list too).

What size are you looking for? Harbor Freight has a bolt together tilt trailer but it is a 4x8.

Harbor Freight has a bolt together 5x8 trailers as well but it doesn't tilt. Could you use a ramp instead of a tilting trailer?

Yikes. The price on either of those is awful though. I have a (very) limited budget. I'm trying to do this whole thing on under $800.

I may have found a way around this, and will just use a standard trailer... I still like the tilt idea though, if anyone else has any suggestions. :)

Postby Chris D » Tue Nov 10, 2009 8:30 pm

Welcome Syn

Harbor frieght has the 1800lb on sale for 339.00 and you might be able to get 20% off 1 in store purchase online just google harbor frieght coupon and wala if it is available. 800 might be tough to do but maybe

Chris D

Ps I learned that from ENDO

Here's my "tilt trailer".

Engineered, designed, and fabricated by ME.

Works great.

Where did you see the 1800lb capacity one? I don't see a tilting 1800lb one. Can you send me a link? Perhaps I am internet-retarded.

I bought the trailer, brought it home, and have it all built up. I'll start a build log once I finalize plans.

Thanks again for your help.

Dave you might to look at how NoBody lengthen the trailer tongue and strengthen it by adding a 2" x 2" tube to the"A" type tongue ( I did mine this last weekend )after the tongue jack bent the "C" channel part of the tongue ).
