Table to attach to side of TD

Working over the plans for our TD. The wife wants a table that attaches to the side of the TD when it's parked. I've seen pictures of it, but how exactly does one go about attaching it?

There are extrusions that can be attached to the trailer side that will allow you to attach a side table. I typically attach receivers under the frame that will allow it to be attached to either side depending on how I set up. It's just 1" sq. tube with a slip in piece, however it does require a frame for the table. It is a welded up item. The advantage is that nothing is attached to the side of the trailer, can be located on either side, and be installed in a high/ low elevation or at 90 degree angles. The down side....it's not super stable, can't sit on it, does have some movement, but can support a coleman stove and a waffle iron, that may or may not be important to you. Doug

Here's how I did mine. I used the aluminum extrusion type mounting brackets. It's simple and it works!

Here is what the trailer side mating brackets look like


Then there are two approaches for supporting the other end. First is a fixed type support pole that goes from the table to the trailer with an angled pole, using brackets like these.


Or it's also easy to make an adjustable, folding support leg with marine hardware.

What type of screws do you guys use to attach the bracket to the side of the trailer?

I used maybe a lower cost.
- Used 3/4 birch plywood and urethane (I made mine 2x4)
- 3/4" aluminum C channel (I piece of 4' cut in half)
- 2 roofing nails

Attach channel to the proper height on side of teardrop (I put a piece on each side). I used 1/2 stainless screws for that.

Install table with leg support. Drill small hole at either side of c channel that the roofing nail will fit through so that the hole passes through the channel and the table.

Cut down the roofing nail or at least grind off the tip so it is not sharp.

When table is in use, place roofing nails in the 2 holes to hold the table. If you lose a nail.....use another one.

I have a photo in the album with the table in position, but no closeups.

For attaching I use #8 x 1" woods screws.
