still not feeling great.. and left knee and elbow is sore.. and I hurt my back at work yesterday... :(

all I really did after work was lots of stretching.

I might ride one of the exercise bikes today.. or maybe head outside into the wind and rain for a ride.

We have our next Ice race practice this next Sunday.. and the following Sunday.. with our race the following Sunday.. I had hoped to be in better shape.. :(

I'm sorry you aren't feeling good :( but as for being in "better shape", puuuulllllleeeesseee!! You are probably built like a brick house my friend! You are one of the most energetic peeps I've ever not met. ;)

Thank you Becca..

a good example right there above you.. :D

while I would like to be in better shape overall.. In that post I was referring to biking shape. We have our race in 3 weeks. Some of the other guys that will be racing.. I can beat on snowshoes.. but they have more bike fitness than I.

At last years race.. I did not even race in the A class.. It's not that I minded loosing.. I did not want to get lapped in a short 10 lap race.

I am a little closer to them this year.. but I don't think close enough yet.

This year I do think they are going to have more classes.. The fast people will have their race.. and then there will be a class for us halfast racers.... 8) .. and then a class for more novice people.

Couldn't get on testerday, again, but was my off day, although Jeanne still did 15 mins on ex bike.

Did my usual tonight, ten on the eliptical, twice, with resistance training between

Jeanne not feeling well, but ten min ride anyway.

Btw, Fenlason, your opinion on Mirraco twenty40 or other good 24" BMX bikes

I know nothing of the Mirraco.. I have never even heard of them.

BMX is not very big in my area.. or has not been for a while. I was not even aware there was much left for other than 20" BMX bikes. 20 or so years ago.. there were a some nice 24" and 26" Bmx bikes to choose from. I did some racing on a 26" we had at the shop [I don't even remember the brand] and I do have an old Schwinn 24" that had been turned into a trials bike... back when we [in this country] started exploring trails riding.

At one point the market changed.. and people were not buying the larger wheeled BMX bikes.. opting to stay with 20"

Wow, you must have some good weather in your area. My roads still have ice, salt, sand, chemicals on them and idiots driving. I will stay on my rollers for about two more weeks probably, maybe more. They say we are still supposed to get 20 more inches of snow in March.

I did a little over a half mile swim this morning, then a long day at work. No riding tonight.

We still have some salt and sand.. and some ice in the mornings.. we do have seperate winter or spring bikes.. that we ride this time of year. but it has been unusually good out. for the most part the roads are dry.. and mostly clear. they are beat up pretty bad in places.. and of course we have the idiot drivers..

We could still get snow anytime here for a while yet.. but have not had much in a while..

Mirraco (may be spelling it wrong) is Dave Mirra's bike building endevour. apparently he was a bid deal in BMX while I was otherwise occupied.
There is a small movement to bring back the BMX 'cruisers' and some companies are building them again.

Texas Fireman is the only place I've heard of doing 26" BMX's nowadays, expensive.
The Mirraco is sold at a bike shop in Katy (nearest bike shop to me) at about $400. Their 20" bikes start around $300, but at 6' tall and 265, I'm sorta big for a dinky 20". I had a 24" when I was in my mid twenties (6' tall, 180) and was pretty happy with it, although it was a supermarket bike. You're right, these bikes don't have much of a following, it's a thought, though, since every MTB I've looked at, aside from the one I bought and returned, has suspension forks. I realy don't like suspension on a bike, I believe it actualy hampers a rider who's not just doing downhill high speed riding.
Even the Trek 820 I was going to get has suspension forks.

Anyway, lest I get too off topic, 20 mins straight on the eliptical, and I noticed my average speed has increased a bit.
I used to stay between 10.5 and 11.1, now I seem to be averaging between 11.4 and 12.3

Jeanne says she did two ten min rides today. Neither while I was home, though, sorta wonder if she's losing the desire. I hope not.

Art.. I had looked up the Mirraco..and did see some stuff. I just did not learn enough to give you any educated feedback.
At one point.. they did make larger BMX bikes.. that still had 20" wheels.... not that I don't think a larger wheeled bike wouldn't be better for you.

There is a niche coming on, of fully rigid single speed mountain bikes. I am not sure if there is anything yet, that is not fairly expensive.

I will have to look into that..

I had an appointment earlier.. then busy at work.. so I have done no workout today. My legs felt pretty heavy anyways.. an easier recovery workout would have helped though.

Delivering fitness equipment.. is sort of a work out. Hauled in to treamills.. and took out two...... stairs invovled.. :D Also delivered a recumbent bike.. 8)

The treadmill delivery.. was to an 84 year old man. He was buying cheapies elsewhere and wearing them out. He walks 4 miles a day on it.. and it takes him just over an hour.. perhaps an hour and 8 minutes.. I forget exactly.

Pretty impressive.. he could have passed for 70 easily.. :D
