Not sure where the "Mike" came from. I must have typed this after applying some epoxy. I really like your teardrop - the profile, the siding, etc., and will be following your build closely.


I believe the fenders you are looking for are the cub/mod/ken-skill type fender. I'm using the 11" wide ones on my build. This is where I bought mine (and also my trim, windows, hatch hinge, seals, etc.): http://www.lilbear.teardrops.net/parts3.html#fenders

Thats the ones! But....I don't like them that much. $500 for a pair of fenders just doesn't make sense right now. I could buy a pair of steel 40s era car fenders for that. I'll either go back with the same kind of fenders that were on it or maybe build something from scratch.

Found some chrome wheels with tires at a swap meet today. All I need to complete the frame is a set of fenders. Who said this looked like a weekend rebuild?

Bought the plywood this morning. Change in plans as of today. I'm going to build the shell, spray the whole outside with ceramic insulation to seal and insulate it, then mount it on the frame. That way I can be sure its water tight. So, the second thing on my "to do" list today is to go buy a tarp. Cuz I know for sure it will rain once I start to assemble the shell. My plan is to raise my out door 4-post car lift all the way up and drape a tarp over it. Then I'm off to find some peel and stick vinyl floor tile to cover the floor with before I add the walls.

Haven't done much on the TD the past couple of days. My back is giving me trouble. Lifted and moved to many sheets of 3/4" plywood. I do need to go get one more sheet though. Weather was postcard perfect yesterday for working on it, but I could barely move around. Not to bad today. Waiting for some help to show up to move the sides into position so I can do some more work on them.

Got a little done today. I drilled all the holes for the dowels in the floor and walls and cut the spreaders for the roof. Maybe tomorrow evening I can start to do some assembly.

Help is arriving tomorrow morning to help with assembly. Todays "to do" list is to grab another sheet of plywood and pick up the 2 gallons of ceramic insulation that I will use to spray over the assembled shell.

Thanks John.....actually I did. Since I was a return customer and I drove over there to pick it up he gave me the Jobber price. Saved me about $25. He also gave me a cap and shirt. When I told him what I was using it on he said he wants to come by and check it out and maybe he can get me some press time. Also told me they now have a new hybrid product that combines the sound deadening and insulation properties. I need to inquire more about that.
