Tom, it's lapped on the sides. 2 sheets/side, he could only roll 4' wide. It will get an overlay of aluminum with butyl on the joint. The sides are stapled around the perimeter of the windows and outer edge. Doug

Thanks Doug.

I didn't think you could get metal profiled 7-8 feet wide, but I couldn't see a seam or the sheets butted together.

Awesome build!

Doug,

All this from Napkin-CAD. You da man. I could build it but it would take a full set of home-brewed CAD drawings to do it. In fact you have inspired me to steal your idea and build Irwin. (a true Scotty fan will know where the name comes form) I plotted most of the outline last night when I should have been resting for work this morning. Again, you da man.

The Irwin build journal is eminent. I can't stand the pressure.

You talked about coming over to the dark side...I seen a sign on someone's profile that cracked me up.."Come Over To The Dark Side--We Have Cookies!" LOL

Ahhh! The feeling you get when installing a fresh piece of aluminum skin... Nice job Doug!

I folded about 1/2 an inch over the corner seams. It's challenging learning new skills!

That Was ME !!!

Postby down under tech » Tue Mar 30, 2010 6:33 pm

Hey John, Linda & Super Doug: That was me. I like to change my avatar every once and a while. I now have "Crusty the Criminal".

P.S. John & Linda, My Mom was born in West BY-GOD. That is what she calls (WV) it. She loves John Denver's "Country Roads" song.

I added "The Dark Side", below.

This is the one I started out with ... "Don't Move"

Oh, by the way I really like the Sierra Nomad if I have not said so, yet.
