Our family's with Gage on this one, we use the instant packets of Brown Sugar/Maple Oatmeal here - Kids like it a lot, we go through about a box a week.
Similarly, we recently started using some of the instant packets of hominy grits here and there, too, although the instant grits are not nearly as good as the quick stovetop grits, which in turn, are not as good as old fashioned courser stone-ground grits, although they take a lot longer to cook. Price you pay for convenience, I suppose.
Never heard of the steel cut oatmeal, but now I'm curious, may give it a try.
