I only need electricity to grind the beans.
Used a sock and a hammer once, when I left the grinder at home.

I found a trailer shop that uses a Kipor 2000 instead of an extension cord. They were nice and started for me, it was as quiet as the Honda but it smelled like a 2 cycle. I think for my money I will go for the Honda. Regards Dan

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm  don't know why it would smell like a 2 stroke since it is a 4 stroke engine...sure they didn't have 2 stroke bike running or were running some 2 stroke gas init....for the money I think I would buy 2 of the Mcculoghs instead of 1 Honda(actually I probably won't buy either)

I asked if they were running it on mixed gas. His answer was no, it has always smelled like that and he added that it uses some oil. He didn’t know how many hr it had but thought that it was under 200hr. One of my other concerns is parts if / when something breaks. The Hondas have a good dealer network and parts shouldn’t be a problem with the Kipor or the McCuloghs that might be a big problem.

Regards Dan

Sometimes a smokey engine is the fault of the owner. A lot of people don't change oil in their utility gasoline engines very often and if they do, they don't necessarily use the correct oil for air cooled engines without filters. Those are two important factors that determine the type of oil needed. It pays to use something similar to the recommended oil...and do it often.

Another thing I like to do is change the original break-in oil after a few hours of useage. It's full of metallic particles that will wear the engine parts early if it isn't removed.

Dan, you are right about the parts issue...of course if it is the Honda, by the time I should need parts I probably won't be getting out and about much anyway(so say these old bones)

So what you are telling me is that the dirty sock (my dogs toy) in the back of the truck was used for that? I thought you needed a rag for checking the oil in your truck!!!! Doug
