Stabilizer Jacks

Postby J.Heyboer » Tue May 11, 2010 12:05 pm

Anyone have any Advice on how many stabilizer jacks I should use? One in each corner? Two in the back? None?

I was thinking of buying some of the scissor style jacks off from ebay.

Below is my 12' x 6' trailer frame from an old Viking pop-up.

Thanks,

John

I have one on each rear corner and the one on the tongue. Some people use one on each of the four corners.

I would think (2) at the back corners as you have a very stable triangle with the tires and front jack to level front to rear. Unless you plan on camping in areas with no chance of finding almost level sites.

Thanks Paul & Ageless,

I think I will try two in the back to start. I can always add more if needed.

John my lil tear came with 4 of the old style pop up stabilizers on 4 corners. To me its a lil too much but since I haven't extended my tongue and gotten a jack on it I use the front two to hold it off the ground.

Chell likes things rock solid, so I put one on each corner...

I've done this also. $80 for 4 . they were real easy to weld on. the metal of the jack can almost melt in sunlight . . .

Maybe I'll go with one in each corner after all. I like your set-up DH.

Thanks again for the thoughts.

Thanks JH. I drilled mine and welded nuts on the supports. The supports for the stabalizer jacks and rear reciever is just some 1.5"x3"x.120" channell I had laying around from another project. As I have the channels facing open side up, I also put in a drain hole on each one to let whatever water collects in them to drain out. Probably won't be much of a problem when I put the TD on it, but untill then it has to live outside.
