I was looking for ultralight camper but I found em way too much expensive and/or to big for me....
I was needing something small (Not bigger/Larger than my car), Something light that I wont have
to deploy everytime I go on a 1 week trip

Then, a miracle happened while surfing the web.... I found this forum....
After months reading this forum and looking at the hall of fame, I tought it was
time to build my own Teardrop...


Needs :
Small Trailer Camper. not wider than my car. ( 98 Crown Victoria 6ft wide)
No need to deploy anything like a tent
Can Sleep confortably in full extention. (I am 6'3" tall)
Lowest Cost Possible (Ideally Under 3k)
2 doors
Have confortable space for 2 wide.
Have a Propane Stove (Back counter top)
Full 15A AC Circuit (1800W Inverter + DC31-280 battery + future solar panel)
24" HDTV, CD/MP3 Radio & 4 spkr
Space for Cooler/Electric Cooler or 12V Fridge.
Vent Trap built to accept a future camper roof Climated Air.


Finish:
Side wall (exterior) : White Plastic
Side Wall + Ceiling (Interior) : Sand & Varnished Spruce
Floor : Nailed & Glued Laminate Flooring.
Top : Metal Finish

A friend is gonna build me custom trailer at the end of July from what I builded.
If lucky enough, I could have it done for the end of august.

This week, I was lazy and tired (had a rough week) and only went out of bed at 12:00....
Today, I had to get the material for the floor and some for sidewalls.

Bill of Material (1st Week)
1x == 5' x 8' x 3/4" Water Resistant Plywood == 100$
2x == 4' x 8' x 1½" Isolating Foam R7.5 ======== 60$
3x == 4' x 8' x ½" Plywood =================== 60$
10x == 2" x 4" x 10' Beam ======================= 30$
1x == Metalic Tape ============================= 10$
3x == Construction Glue Tube =================== 25$
1x == 1" Screw (Pack of 100) ==================== 8$
1x == 1½" Screw (Pack of 100) =================== 8$
1x == 2" Screw (Pack of 100) ==================== 8$
Total today : 309$
Grand Total Yet: 309$


Materials



Since I have no trailer yet, I need a dolley to move the TD out of the garage when i'll have to move it out.









Starting building the Floor.









Finished Floor. I underestimated the Glue I'd need for the floor. I need more to install the 1/2" plywood to close the sandwich.

I'm hosting the pic on my home server...

I guess it's maybe because you guys have a DSL connection.
Most DSL Provider block port 80 on non-commercial IP Adress...
Cable ISP does not block em....

I forgot to add :8080 at the end of the IP for you to use a Mirror Port for HTTP request...

I also had to to do this to make the Gaming Forum I host visible to everyone...

Today, I bought :
Abigger caulking gun for bigger glue tube... 13$
3x 850ml King size Glue tube 33$
13x Beam 2" x 3" x 10' 30$ (for wall structure.)
48sq ft (2 pack) of laminated flooring 50$
Total : 126$
Grand Total : 435$

In my opinion though, the wheels could do to be 2 squares further forward, to keep the tongue weight lower, especialy if your tug is a normal car, and not a huge merican truck

Since I have no trailer yet, I need a bogey to move the TD out of the garage when i'll have to move it out.

Looks like a good start love the idea for the dolly to move it around on. I'm building one also without a trailer and have it on little saw horses in the corner so it's the height it will be on the finished trailer.
That would make it so handy to pull the larger tear out of the garage and the roll the little one to the middle to work on and then back.

About the 7 lugs wheel, it was more to visualise a wheel and i thought of a simple 90's Mustang Honey Comb Mag....


About the wheel 2 more square closer to the front, yeah, i admit it will be better placed... thx for the advice.
Is there a suggested or min/max weight on the tongue of the trailer?



Today I bought :
1L of Anti-Rust Paint 26$
Roof Vent 14" x 14" (at Canadian Tire) 45$
Total : 71$
Grand Total Yet : 506$



Maybe thursday or Friday ill paint the whole thing (Except the laminated floor naturaly) with Tremclad Anti-Rust (Aluminium color) to seal the whole thing.

My dad applied that on cheap 1/4 plywood (to cover the side of his gazebo during winter) and i was impressed by the results.
It's been 6 years exposed to elements all year long and it still look great.
No mildew, no cracks, no water infiltration....

I wrote to Hehr Internationnal for sliding Window and they have a Canadian Distributor.....
I want these windows (The one on the right)

Lucky me!, I live at 20 min from the only distributor in canada....
Need to call them tomorrow...
I hope there price arent Sky High!....

Ive just googled crown victoria, and can see it is a fairly big strong car. Your tongue weight will depend on what sort of frame you build, if you build good and strong you can go heavier, but consult your cars handbook for the maximum you can go to

10x 2"x3"x8 25$
10x 2"x3"x10 18$
1x Glue Tube King Size. 11$
3x Spruce 1/4 4'x8' (one sanded side) for int. walls. 66$
Total : 148$

Finally, while i was marking the wood for the cuts, I decided to modify a little bit round shape for the camper....
It will be easier this way....


I started my sidewalls today....
Long week end = Lot to do to the TD....

Taking a look at the wall temporary in place.
I decide to Fix the 2"x3" base of the wall frame solidly on the floor.
Later, i'll add the wall to it. IMO it will be stronger that way. Ill have a 5"½ wide
surface to glue and srew the whole thing on the side.











Started the Wall insulation....
I'm an idiot..!!! I just bought a 4'x8'x2" of blue foam.... It was misplaced at the local store.
So I didnt look at the size... I realised after cutting the 1st piece the extra ½"...
So I cant return it... wasted 28$...

Lucky me i had a second one so i could start the wall insulation.
