Yep, at the risk of talking politics

, it seems that government, whether local, state, or federal (especially state and local), is out to get the money.
After a week of waiting for my building permit for my utility shed, I went back to the office of the building inspector. They didn't know about my plans and application. After 15 minutes of looking, they found them. The guy took a cursory glance at my plans, said that they should have done a slab inspection, but I had included a picture of my footer I poured, so that was good enough, they gave me a permit on the spot. I asked about inspection points. He said just to build it and when it was complete, he would come check it.
WHAT? AFTER IT'S COMPLETE? What if something wasn't right? Apparently, they aren't too concerned with that.
As long as they have the $45 I gave them to allow me to build my shed, everything is just hunky dory with them. The guy actually said he wasn't worried about it, because from my plans, he could see that I know what I am doing.

I could have been the world's best draftsman, but the world's worse carpenter for all he knew (but I am neither).
Go Figure.
