Mine is 2"X2"X1/8" and is just a single tube.

Dale, the Federal Govt., in their infinite wisdom, decided that a person looking at the back of a big rig would not be able to tell it was a big rig(go figure) and might try and drive between the two tail/marker light...so they mandated the 3 light id panel to indicate that it was a vehicle over 80"'s wide...who knws why

That is like the Federal Govt and toilets, 5 gal flush wastes water so they mandated 1.5gal flush. Now you have to flush three times to get enough water to use the plunger and flush 3 more times before it goes down. Lets see that is 9 gal of water for a fresh flush! :?
Right! :duh

Yep, at the risk of talking politics  , it seems that government, whether local, state, or federal (especially state and local), is out to get the money.

After a week of waiting for my building permit for my utility shed, I went back to the office of the building inspector. They didn't know about my plans and application. After 15 minutes of looking, they found them. The guy took a cursory glance at my plans, said that they should have done a slab inspection, but I had included a picture of my footer I poured, so that was good enough, they gave me a permit on the spot. I asked about inspection points. He said just to build it and when it was complete, he would come check it.

WHAT? AFTER IT'S COMPLETE? What if something wasn't right? Apparently, they aren't too concerned with that. As long as they have the $45 I gave them to allow me to build my shed, everything is just hunky dory with them. The guy actually said he wasn't worried about it, because from my plans, he could see that I know what I am doing. I could have been the world's best draftsman, but the world's worse carpenter for all he knew (but I am neither).

Go Figure.

it may be overkill but I gonna put 3 marker lights on the top above the hatch, 3 more under the back end on the frame, side markers on the front and back along the side and brake and running lights,, this sucker might be confused for a christmas tree but I am hoping no one will run into the rear at night,,,

chipper

p/s also left and right winkey blinkers

Chip!
What no directional lights? With all those lights someone will think it is a Christmas tree and try to hug it at 60 MPH.

Cracker,

What they (the inspectors and city govenment) REALLY want is to make shure any improvements get added to the property for TAX reasons. That's were they want to make shure they are not slighted.

And, they will probably ignore the fact that I am replacing a damaged metal utility builiding, and add this one to my property value for taxing. And, they will probably value it as if I had bought it, at 3 times the cost of building it. You can't win.

They can get away with it because they asses the VALUE of the shed. Not your out-of-pocket costs to build it.

$> I've been renting off site storage space and the wife is after me to build a shed. I've been dreading it cuz I'll be forced to pull a permit. And, I really don't want the blood suckers on my property.

I went to the village and asked, "What's the largest shed I can build without a permit?" They told me I can build up to a 10x12' shed.

I ended up building an 8x10, and they never came out to look or reasses the property...

I think there is a minimum size that doesn't need a county permit, but the city has their own rules. Even if it is 10x12, my slab is almost 11' wide and over 13' long and I need all the room I can get, so I am building to the edges. I designed and built one in MD 12'x16' the same design as this one will be. I will build in rafters, rather than using trusses, and put a 4' x 10' "attic" space in the rear, 6' above the floor. This gives me a lot more storage area for boxes, leaving more floor area free.

me too, although they are trying to get a statewide permit system...however I don't think they will ever fund more than actual "home" enforcement division...
