Has anyone tried Chrome browser?

Postby caseydog » Thu May 27, 2010 5:54 pm

Just curious. Anyone tried it? Is it any good.

I use Safari on my Macs, and it is pretty darned fast. I'm not sure if I want to try Chrome or not.

I have been using Chrome at home since the beta. I love it. I don't use IE at all any more. I am running Windows 7.

I use Chrome and IE both. Chrome has not caused me any problems what so ever and I used it both with XP, Vista, and now Windows 7.

Tried Chrome early on, but it was missing a lot of plug ins. I was thinking about trying it again. They probably have that fixed now.

Tried it a while back...didn't really care for it. Like Rocky said...too much missing.

I have mozilla, IE and Chrome loaded... some things don't work in mozilla, so I will switch to one of the others... there is no need to pick just one, you have have all of them. Mozilla is a bit safer from hackers.

And, Chrome is enhancing every week.. It's from Google and they will make it better as time goes by.

I use Chrome when "surfing" but it occasionally has issues when running remote applications (GroupWise email and the payroll system I use at work come to mind). Overall I like it, but it doesn't do everything.

I dig Google/Chrome

Postby Alfred » Thu May 27, 2010 9:50 pm

Hey Gang,

I love Google/Chrome and it is my browser of choice most of the time. Mozilla Firefox is my 2nd choice. I have an older MAC that I use as a back-up computer, on which I use Safari. I keep IE for those rare times when a page will only seem to work with IE.

I like the interface with Chrome, how it opens with your most visited sites ready to be clicked and it runs fast. It is a lean but fast browser. Chrome is my favorite by far. Try it for a few days and you won't go back.

I used Chrome and liked it for most everything. The weird thing was all of the sudden it was blocked as was Explorer. Now I only have Mozilla and can't find what is blocking the other browsers. Really limits me if I want to download something.

I would suggest Firefox over Chrome.
Chrome uses more memory, does not have as many plugins supported and does not adhere as strictly to the W3C DOM. Also, most website developers are testing their sites on IE, Firefox, and Safari. Therefore, most sites are a crap shoot of if they will have a problem on Chrome.

I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and C# ASP.NET Programmer, so I am like totally geeked up on this subject and stuff...

I tried it when it first came out. No complaints. Just another browser trying to do everything that Firefox already does. Does that tell you what I use?
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Repeat after me....

I love google
I love google
I love google

Even my phone is googleiscious!

I've never tried Firefox, or Opera, I just know Google runs circles around IE.

I've not had problems with any site, but Norton won't save passwords for Chrome, so for banking at work I'm stuck with IE cuz I don't want to remember passwords. And yes the Chrome will remember the passwords, but with Norton, if you don't know my master password, you can't get the passwords for any of the sites.

Hmmmm, I may have to try it out.

Tony, Firefox is WAY slower than Safari on my mac, so I dumped it.

As for compatibility, it's pretty rare these days that I am incompatible with any sites in Safari. I would suspect that Chrome will have some issues until it is widely used, but don't know that for sure.

Maybe I should do search for "Safari vs Chrome" on Google.

Last time I checked (albeit its been awhile) they did not have a version of Chrome yet for the MAC platform, only PC.
