window refurbishing

I bought two used windows. They have some dents in the exterior frame that need to be straightened...

Has anyone done this before? I do not want to break the window glass, but I do not want to take them apart unless this is a last resort.

I was thinking about supporting the flange on a wood block and just using a hammer to tap the frame flat...

Steve

Depending on how bad they are, I've done it with 2 blocks of wood and a "C" clamp.

And on smaller dings I've used a Vise-Grip and 2 blocks.

I wouldn't go tapping it with anything until maybe the final operation.

I got used windows and hatches from ebay, and there were some similar damage to the outer rings. I used a rubber mallet and a block of wood and had no problems, but honestly, Len's idea of two blocks of wood and a c-clamp sounds much safer.
