We use epoxy on both fiberglass and carbon. If carbon we normally vac bag it with plastic to press the layers together. In situations where the part has to be extremely light or pretty we use pre-preg carbon. The correct amount of resin is in the cloth. It is stored in freezers until used. It is cut and layered in the mold and then vac bagged until it cures in a large oven. Beautiful finish, extremely light, very expensive.
