As you can see in the pic, I use a pair of SS marine hinges on my doors, and under the half that mounts to the camper side, I use a custom made correct thickness thick spacer. The purpose is to move the door outwards, to allow for the seal, and the right amount of "crush" on the seal. Most seals, whether on a new car or a camper, have a desired amount of "crush", so that it seals properly, without destroying the seal in the process. If you use a piano hinge or other with out spacing, you completely smash the seal, not always the best sealing method, IMHO. Grants offset piano hinges does the same thing.

You just provided a solution for my ice box. Due to using a replacement seal (different thickness), it closes really tight. I will make an offset shim on the hinge to mate the seal evenly.
