AC wiring

If you run AC wiring (beyond just an extension cord and power strip), do you just use normal, solid copper 14/2 or 12/2 NM cable (with ground)?

I used a cut up extension cord for my wiring.

I use Romex. solid copper. If your circuit has a 15 amp breaker, you would use 14/2 wire, at 20 amps, you use 12/2. Most appliances and fixtures run on 15 amps. The only time you would need 20 is for a bigger microwave or an air conditioner.

There are those that tell you the solid copper will vibrate and fail. There are those that tell you an extention cord will heat up and short out burning your trailer to the ground.

OMG what shall we do.......

My first build I used 12 -3 extention cord and have ran everything but a window shaker air conditioner on it. ( I run a seperate 10-3 cord direct to it) It was nice being able to drill a small 5/16 hole and thread it thru the 3/4 members where needed. I used the 1/2 depth carlon electrical boxes and standard duplex outlets.

I chose to use toggle switches for the ac because they were smaller and I could place a rotary switch in the same box for the dc switching.

OH by the way if you mix ac and dc in the same fixture you are doomed also.

When I built the barn I had a 2 1/4" wall cavity so it was easier to wire with 12 - 2 with ground standard copper

Standards call for using stranded wire in mobile applications as it is less likely to break. Of course that assumes you will not be building multiple trailers like Bobhenry :)
I have serious doubts that some 12ga extension cords are in reality.

My 1974 Fleetwing 16' camper is wired from the factory with solid copper wire. Everything still words fine, although if I could get it to burn down my homeowners my pay for it?

You ain't even gonna believe.

I started MY 4x7 Monday and Saturday a fellow I had been talking with decided he wanted A BARN (can you imagine anyone wanting a barn) So Saturday we started his barn at the plant. Deck is done. With 1 1/2 " of insulation. The walls are rough framed are up and the gambrel trusses are built and installed. A very busy 9AM to 4 PM. IT is a 5x11'6" and he wanted it slightly taller than mine. He had a real nice boat trailer as a donor chassis.

So we are kinda at this same stage. This a shot of the first day with my build. Except we had to build a floor.
