Roofing tar and glue adhesion

Postby Aint2Proud » Tue Jul 13, 2010 8:12 pm

I am getting ready to coat the bottom of my floor with roofing tar and started thinking about sealing up other areas.

My sidewalls have a dado that slips over the plywood floor. I have never used roofing tar so I don't know if this would work or not, but I was thinking of running a thin layer over the end grain of the plywood before slipping the wall on. Would that work? I am thinking mainly of the glue adhesion. I think I will be using PL premium for the joint (if not it will be Titebond III). Could you run a thin layer in other areas as well - along the bottom 2 inches of the outside wall or the top of the wall and then set the roof ply on? I am covering the outside in aluminum so this would all be done prior to skinning it. Thanks

Nope! Your glue will waterproof if you get it covered well. You can also use epoxy to seal those ends first if you are not sure. Usually the glue is good though. ;)
