Postby Baz » Fri Jul 30, 2010 2:56 pm

I have cut my sides out. they are 11' X55". I would like to know how to lay out the kitchen are without plans. I see alot of 10' sides but no 11' ones. I do have plans but they are limited as to locations. Anyone have any good ideas? Thanks. Baz

Well, my first piece of advice is don't put the upper cabinets so far back that you can't reach them, also, it is handy if you can reach the verry back of the cabinat without having to crawl into the gally.

Do you know how high your frame will sit? Make it comfortable. You con't want the counter top too high, or too low.

You could do a mock up with cardboard and see what fits. Personally, if I was that long, I wouldn't want my gally that deep. I would put a cabinet in the front of the cabin at the head of the bed.

I will second the cabinet in the front. If you get the galley too deep you will have to figure out how to climb in after stuff... ;)

On the bottom portion of your galley...you could use the depth to your advantage. Put things on sliders and roll them out. It also gives you some extra counter space on the top of the sliders if you build a cabinet that is sliding, set a stove on it, storage underneath. No having to reach way back in, and as mentioned...get your counter height correct, measure the one in your house for an idea of where you want it....just an idea. Doug

I'm new to teardrops and and don't know much about them [yet] but the
galley's remind me of a Gerstner.Check out this link for a good look and
good story.
You said you cut the sides 11" / 55", I thought the sides were the sides of
the Tear itself. Are you putting a double layer there?I like the ideal of the
slides.

11 feet by 55 inch's, never mind. Didn't pick up on mixed scale.
