shorter trailer jack?

With my new tow vehicle, the HF trailer jack (91474) with wheel does not retract far enough to allow it to swing back for towing (had to use a bottle jack to raise the tongue far enough).


Does anyone know of a shorter frame mount jack with wheel?

I have started using these Bulldog jacks because of the rack system they crank all the way up, and the wheel still comes off. Not cheap - $80, they they work great

That's the one I ended up using on my trailer too. The wheel retracts high enough I have not had to remove it but it is easily removable if need be.

Have the same problem; gonna try taking it apart and shortening it.

I have cut and re-welded for others and I also went with the rack and pinion one also

I used the first one pictured, and ended up cutting the welds and rewelding it up higher.
Works great now!

I sometimes have that problem. I rotate the wheel so it faces backwards and that usually works.

If the wheel faces forward, it is much more difficult to rotate the jack.

Here are the ones I use and carry. If needed you can drill new top holes and raise it up 2". Could you do the same on yours?

thanks, looks perfect. Any tips on where to buy? And part number? Bulldog makes a lot of jacks...probably the 165D or the 165R, but not clear which if either is the right one.

looks like the 169201 and the 162300 are the same except for the mounting.

A note from personal experience..... if anybody uses the HF jack from the OP, I would highly recommend adding some kind of set screw (or other suitable fastener) to the cap at the top of the crank tube. Mine vibrated loose somewhere on it's second trip out. Still haven't found anything to replace it with.

Fulton makes one also that is really short...rated at 600# I believe..I've used it on a number of my tears. I took the bolt on bracket and modified it so that it welded on but still swings away. Doug

I've had the Bulldog jack for a few weeks, and I'm seeing a fair amount of rust developing on it in various places. Is this normal for these guys? I'm kind of disappointed, as it's not even rainy season yet.
