Finn mentioned stabilizers like these earlier in the thread...

They're only $15 here:

I'm gonna try something different I'm gonna make mine out of pvc pipe. 2in dia. and 1-1/2in dia. pvc . I'll make it where the 2in. tube screws into the bottom of the deck and the 1-1/2in tube will slide into the bigger tube. I'll have holes drilled in each tube to run a bolt through. If that doesn't get it level enough, all you have to do is unscrew the big tube alittle until it's perfectly level. I was brain storming the other nite and came up with this idea. I've done bought the pvc (under $20), and as soon as I get done with my trailer frame, I'm gonna install it. Larry

Larry -- PVC doesn't hold weight well. Your stands are going to collapse... It's a bad idea...

Dave, you may very well be right but I'm gonna give it a try anyway. I'm building it to stabilize not to hold weight. The tongue jack and the wheels do all the weight holding. What the heck if it fails, it fails, I only spent $17 on it. If it works I'll post pics.---- Larry------------------------------------------------------If it does break, I may use threaded metal pipes depending on how much trouble it is to find it or just use regular stabilizer jacks.---------Larry

I have had no luck with scissor jacks under my Teardrop or my Scotty. I don't know if they are just cheap made or what but right now one of them under the Scotty is being held up with a zip tie. It took forever to get that POS snapped back together. I'll take a pic and post it tomorrow.

I brought a pair of jacks I already had to use this last camping trip. They are heavy but they worked just fine.

I like the ones Finn posted. I had those on an old camper and they worked great.

LARRY:
You might have a chance if you can minimize PVC from side movement.

Add another smaller leg off to the side, that'll create a triangle. If PVC can be kept from bending, it'll support a lot of weight.

This is an old thread. I changed my mind on the PVC stabilizer thing. I think it could work though but it would probably look tacky. I'll find some other way to stabilize my trailer. 8)

Every camper I've used had two on the back corners & I thought they were great. I did see one guy at a campground whip out a drill with a socket on it & use that to raise & lower the jacks. Definitely something I will consider as my little li-on drill is usually in my truck!

Heikki, I put stabilizer jacks on the two rear corners of my builds because people expect them. I've attempted to use them but found them to be temperamental for leveling.
I use a scissor jack that's stored in the tongue box and a portable drill to drive it up and down for behind the wheel leveling. It's fast and easy, couldn't be happier. :D Danny
