Because it's very rare to have daytime temperatures below freezing here, we have no history of using winter tyres or even all-season tyres - everyone uses summer tyres all year. But we had a bad winter last year and like quite a few others I am using them for the first time ever. Even in our wet, slushy roads they are wonderful. But then you guys all knew that!

Thanks to the Gulf Steam current, you guys have mild winters, considering how far North you are. It's a good thing that Global Warming is a hoax, because if the Greenland glaciers were to melt away, it could break the Gulf Stream cycle, and you would be screwed. :o

(BTW, for those who do not know it, the Southern coast of England is actually a few degrees latitude North of International Falls, Minnesota)

I heard on the radio that Scotland was expecting a rare 10" of snow over this weekend. :o

I haven't seen snow where I live in 8 years. We're overdue for some.

It's not even December yet and I already am tired of winter. Since Tuesday, we've gotten over 6 feet of snow, lows have dropped into the single digits, I've already had one pipe burst and it's going down to a nice balmy 6 degrees tonight. I've shoveled so much snow that my bad shoulder is already hurting me and now would not be a good time of year to get it surgically repaired since someone's gotta clear the driveway, walkways and decks. I'll be damned if I'm gonna get it done during springtime, because that's when I'm building my TD. Yeah, the moon shining off the snow tonight makes for a pretty sight but I'm ready for some sunnier, warmer weather. Even the 30's would be nice here in the Sierras. I used to love to go skiing but can't afford that now days. Lift ticket prices are ridiculous. I guess I should be glad that I'm not in Wyoming with slowcowboy. Praying for some warmer weather :fan: That would be nice!

Yeah, I just hate Florida this time of year. Temps in the mid-60's to 70's in the daytime. Windows open all the time to catch the seabreeze. The nightime cool temps have driven the bugs away and the citrus is getting ripe. It's just horrible.

Alright you two!!! You're killing me. It was 5 degrees this morning when I woke up at 5:30 and had to walk the wife's dog. It's crappy enough that I have to wake up when it's dark but 5 degrees. GEEZ, it's only November. :( :( . The longtime locals say they don't remember it being like this for over 20 years. I've lived here in No Nevada for 12 years and this is way colder and snowier than normal. It feels and looks like mid winter already. If I had the money, I'd take a tropical vacation in the Caribbean. Well maybe I can dream about it.

Enjoy your weather. Remind me to drop you a line when your temperature is in the 90's, just like your humidity.

Hey, at least you get to go snow boarding, sledding, snowmobiling or skiing. All we can do is go fishing, lay on the beach, camp year round, sail, camp - oh wait, I said that already.... ;)

It is rainy and chilly on my hillside, but I don't miss Florida a bit. Just some of the people...

I need a house on a warm beach, and a second home in Breckenridge, so I can ski when I want to, and go home to relax on the beach. If I could only get my lottery numbers sorted out. :fb

My doctor would like that, too. I once skied three days with a broken thumb. It complicated things just a bit, which cost me extra money at the doctor's office. But, it balanced out since I paid for the rental condo for three days, and broke my thumb on the first day.

Life is all about balance. :)
