Our Next Mega-Mini

...ask your questions in the appropriate forums BUT document your build here...preferably in a single thread...dates for updates, are appreciated....

Wow, what a conundrum. I've said many times in past posts how much I liked the design of the Mega Mini as well as the company. It's so sad that they fell by the wayside and lost everything, and now they can't even do one last thing and take care of their very first customer.

Yeah ShadowCatcher, you have a lot of bucks and time wrapped up in this and you have proven your loyalty. If it comes down to pulling the trigger with a lawsuit, so be it and don't think twice.

Today I sent an e-mail saying that if we did not have it by the end of the month that I would be talking with a lawyer about pursuing legal action. I would greatly prefer that this were not necessary but this does not seem to have been a great priority. We want the trailer and it will be great but...

After 15 months I doubt they take any threat, even one to contact an attorney seriously.

Personally if it was me I would have shown up in person a long time ago.

I own a business and it's amazing how cooperative suppliers can get instantly when you show up unnanounced, especially if you have paperwork on your side.

People that write emails, letters, and call will always go to the end of the line behind those they are looking int the eye.

There is one major problem. The old shop was closed and Eric moved the trailer!

I'd be looking at filing a claim in Small Claims court in the jurisdiction where Eric lives. I'd be filing with the BBB, and would possibly be looking at filing theft charges with the local police department

I don't think I would have waited 15 months to do something, though.

I'm so sorry that you are having these troubles, ShadowCatcher. Do you know where this fellow moved to? If not, you can send a letter to his old address, requesting his new address on the outside of the envelope. I think you write "Address Correction Requested" but I'm not certain. Someone at the post office will know.

It just doesn't make sense that you are having all these problems with this guy. After all, you had successfully contracted with him before....

I know where Eric is, that has not changed and we do get some contact every now and then but as an example he promised Nancy to contact us after he worked on the trailer over the weekend with some pictures. Outcome another broken promise, and I don't know if he is blowing smoke or what. The problem is we do not want the money back, we want the trailer. finished or not.

:o Um is he sending you pictures? Have you actually seen the trailer? You might want to do that if you have not and you might want to take it home or at least get it titled in your name....Some insurance against theft might help. So sad because it is very nice!

Time to drive there and pick it up. Have everything documented in hand swing by the local PD before going to his place to see if they will go there with you and don't leave without your trailer. If its still there. I've seen this type of thing before and most times the guy has long sold everything you paid for and is now broke so you'll end up with zip!

Its a shame being they had a really nice product.

At this point, I wouldn't trust any pictures he sent. He could have taken orders from other customers, and everybody is getting the same pictures and "story" about their camper. They could also be pictures from a previous built camper that he is sending.

His actions seem to fall under "theft by conversion" and I would do as VTX1029 suggested.

This is the last one they build and the trailer is unique with features only we wanted and I obtained i.e. marine LED light fixtures. It also has the logo you see to the left prominently displayed. It has been a while since we had new pictures but that is how I know it was with in spitting distance of complete a couple of months ago.
I happen to like these guys and want to remain friends if at all possible. I am just sick and tired of excuses and delays and what to jog things along. I also do not want to queer things by doing the wrong thing legally and prefer to do as little as will accomplish the desired outcome.
Eric now works for a big RV company and is gone most/much of the time around the US and Canada so appearing at his house (I do not know where the trailer is currently) would probably not work. My current feeling is to see what a lawyer has to suggest.

SC:

I applaud your patience, and your loyalty to an old friend that by all appearances is now taking advantage of your friendship. Is this guy local to you? Do you know what he drives?

I'm with a lot of other people here, in thinking a face to face would be the best, and insist on seeing the trailer immediately. If it were me, I would tow the thing right then and there. Be firm, tell him you're trying to save what is left of a strained relationship, and you just want your trailer NOW!

Give him the ultimatum face to face, that if he won't give you the trailer right then, you will return with the police.

It's a hard spot to be in, but it is not unreasonable to demand your trailer.

I don't think Eric is much of a friend; he has your money and your trailer and lies to you every time you talk to him. I think he'll keep lying until you go away. Who needs friends like that? Get a lawyer and have him start documenting your problems with Eric so you're ready for court.

I agree. And, for all you know, Eric could have sold the trailer to someone else by now. He probably thinks that since you haven't come after him legally after 15 months of delays and excuses, you aren't going to do anything about it now.

İ dont mean what is the problem because of complex English,
But there is a problem i mean with your trailer and someone lies,
İ wish as soon you could have your trailer.
