I did not anticipate the problem of several the bugs/gnats flying into it

When you get into your second coat you may want to find one of these.

http://www.toolrage.com/prodview.asp?sku=FIB-8001

I am not recommending this supplier, it was just the first that popped up when I googled FIB8001.

If you think you might want one, PM me, I sell them where I work and since it's light enough to send via US Mail, I can probably save you a bit over any online store.

Worked on the camper some today, first time since before Christmas. After all the recent snow/rain, it was beautiful today. Nothing too exciting, I got the CPES on the doors. It felt good to be back down in the garage working on it. Will keep you posted!

Hi All,

This weekend I got the CPES on the doors, so now I can paint them and mount them soon. I put down the first coat of Spar Urethane on the galley counter-top and on the bulkhead between the cabin and the galley. I urethaned the shelf in the front. Small progress! It was a beautiful weekend in the mountains of Western NC, sunny and relatively warm for this time of year. Would have been a great camping weekend, but it was also a good "build" weekend.

CPES on inside

Postby Alfred » Sun Feb 13, 2011 5:49 pm

Hi All,

Worked on the camper for an hour or so today, I put CPES on the floor in the inside of the camper. I'm going to put spar urethane on the floor after the CPES cures. I'm making small progress, still hope to get it out camping in the Spring!

One hour of work on the camper = one hour closer to being finished. Keep at it and you'll be finished in no time

Spar Urethane

Hi all, and thanks, Starleens for the encouragement! One step at a time, it is getting there.

Today, put spar urethane on the inside floor, over the CPES I put down last week. Also another coat of spar urethane on the galley counter and bulkhead. Spar urethane on the inside of the doors, too. Just urethaning everything! Bought another big ol' can of spar urethane at Lowes this week, cashed in the $25 Lowes gift certificate I got for Christmas from my sweet Wife, who wanted to buy me something for the camper build, and decided on the Lowes giftcard.

Beautiful day here in the mountains, cool but sunny, just a few clouds. Nice day to be out working on the camper!

Hey John,

When is the Holler this year? We might make it. The camper is just about "camp-able". It would be great to see y'all again. I worked on it in the garage this weekend. Rained the past two weekends, so I could not paint. I need a sunny clear weekend, so I can finish painting the exterior. I will post pictures later.

Hey Al,
This yr the Holler is May 20-22. You can find the number and info on TearJerkers, South Appalachian Chapter section. It's looking to be a big one with people from all over coming.

Galley/Hatch Light - Update 3/28/11

Postby Alfred » Mon Mar 28, 2011 11:13 pm

Hey gang,

Worked on the galley area this weekend...Here is the hatch light...

Image

Here is a picture of the galley storage - Four coats of spar urethane, so it is starting to look shiny. I have handles on the storage compartment doors now. I left some of the pencil marks on the countertop, beneath the urethane, I thought it would look cool, sort of a 'record' of our planning and build process...

Image

Here I am in the shop with it all lit-up...

Image

Playing around with CamWow - Got the sketch-draw effect going...

Image

So, I made some progress this weekend, good to have time to work on it. I'll keep y'all posted.
