Doug,
Is 5-1-51 close enough? My #2 son is 8-9-89. My wife is 8-28 and my #1 son is 4-14 which is half of 8-28.
Talk about Karma!
Note: I don't state the year of my wife's birth. That doesn't make her any younger but allows me to continue getting older!
Got a Sears two burner stove for a buck a while back at a garage sale. Big Guy (Teardrops for Vets) got a brand new fold up oven at the same sale for around ten bucks. He isn't as tough a negotiator as I am as he's spending his own money. As I'm spending Suzy's money, I have to do better! As you know, it's all her money! It's a little lighter than pea green in color and in nice condition. Also got a two burner Coleman with a brass fuel tank (flat ends) in good working condition but a bit banged up (but it can be straigtened out) for five bucks off of Craigslist a week or so ago. The stove was in Camarillo (twenty miles away), so, as I was near a friend's in Oxnard, I called and suggested we get a Burrito at Johny's Fine Mexican Food which is a real hole in the wall in Ventura but they have an excellent Chile Relleno Burrito!. He invited me to join him, his wife, and his 90+ year old father for dinner at another Mexican Restraunt (and he treated!). His father has still has every one of his marbles and shared his experience of being on the beach at Normandy at H-Hour +23 which must have been quite a sight! Not many of them still with us!!!!! In fact I think the father even has some of the marbles his son/my friend is missing! I'm afraid I was forced to mention this to my friend! Picked up one of the stoves at a garage sale and the other off of Craig's list. Finally got another two burner Coleman in ok condition, for a buck, at a garage sale. The seller "made me" buy it!
I'm up to about a dozen lanterns. I get most of em at garage sales. Saw two sitting in the corner of someone's driveway, unattended, for weeks. Stopped by several times and finally found someone at home and got them both (like new, one with a case the other in the original box and with lottsa accessories) for ten bucks and couple more off of Craigslist. The most I have in any one lantern is about seven bucks. Most have been picked up for 3 to 5 bucks each. I've even found spare globes at garage sales for a buck or so.
My plan is to make sure they work (and rebuild/repair as required but most are "like new") and then find most of em new homes with folks that will put them back into regular use.
I'm sneaking up on youse guys!
Pics to follow.
Cheers,
Gus
