My name is Michelle. My husband and I have decided to take the plunge and build a teardrop this spring. A few years ago, we built an 800 SF addition on our house...by ourselves in just 3 months while both working full time...so we figure if we can do that, we sure can do this!
We bought an old pop-up in run down condition for very cheap a few years ago, fixed it up some, used it a few times...hate all the set up involved, and the kids prefer sleeping in tents anyway. Our 5 oldest kids will all be off to college in the next 4 years, and we'll almost be empty nesters (before age 40!) with just one teen left at home!

We are in the planning stages right now...already have a trailer frame to use, and may use pieces and parts from the pop-up to save money (it's probably worth more part-ed out than as a whole anyway).
Just trying to figure out how we wanna do the build, materials, layout, window placement, electrical plans, etc. We want to make it completely self-sufficient, so it still has all the creature comforts without electrical hook-up (using propane & solar backup systems).
I saw there is a gathering at McCormick's Creek in July. Not sure we'll have ours built by then (hoping for it though). We have a farm with a vacation home just 25 miles from that state park, so we're planning on at least visiting to see all the teardrops!
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Michelle
