ITG4 - International Teardrop Gathering

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby Zyamfier » Tue Feb 22, 2011 7:48 pm

Hey all,
Jim here, Bill and Nancy's Son.
Need to clear some thing up as we have been getting a few calls.

Those of you that have been told you have a site by the village need to be aware typically, a camp site is not reserved at the time the reservation is made.
We have spoke with the campground this evening. The campground is taking reservations only and not making assignments by site number.

Let me be clear:
Your camp site will be assigned when you arrive at the Campground office.
This allows the campground to manuver people with special needs as well as those wanting shared sites and other unforseen things that can happen.

Thanks for reading and feel free to ask me any questions you like. I will try to answer them as best I can or will get the answer from senior.
Also read the following page. http://itg.teardrops.net/

Thanks,
Your fellow teardropper,
Jim Petersen

Thanks Jim for clearing that up. At first I thought it was a communication problem at Pioneer Village but didn't really know what to say because things may have changed. :?

Jim
Does this mean that if I was able to make this gathering I would not be able to chose one of the sites that were open when I arrived.
And I would be placed where the campground wanted me to be.

Also would there be a chance that I would have to move from one site to another site if someone came in that had special needs, If my first site accommodated those needs? Did I say that right.

The way this has worked (and worked well) is:
You arrive at the Campground/Motel office - pay your fee and get your Museum entrance pass.
You then proceed to the ITG registration office (there will be signs) it is right near the campground. There you will be given your site # this is not saying you can not select the site you want. What it prevents is someone pulling into the campground before getting their assigned spot. In this way we as the ITG staff prevent someone from getting a spot from the staff and finding someone has already pulled into the sight before completing registration.
We are not doing this to be controlling it is just what works. After 3 ITG's I can tell you the system works.
Hey now let's get back to talking about how much fun we are all going to have in one of the nicest campgrounds with the best people in the world Teardrop and Tiny Trailer people.
If you have never been here before I can tell you all sites are great. Sure at sometime during the day you may be in the sun but the grounds have enough trees you will find shade most of the day.

Looking forward to seeing all of you in June.

At the last ITG, a few people asked me for some tips on something fun to check out on the way home. I thought I would put together a small guide to show some of my favorite places in the state. Of course I want you to spend ALL the time you can at the ITG :applause: , but here’s a couple places I have enjoyed in the past that could give you something to do if you have some extra traveling time on your way to or from Minden..

If you are coming in from the East.

http://www.sasmuseum.com/ The Strategic Air Command Museum located in Ashland, just off I-80. When you walk in the door, there is an SR-71 Blackbird mounted up in the air kinda pointing your way, that’s worth the price of admission right there. :o Don’t just stand there drooling and daydreaming while viewing the SR-71, go ahead and get a ticket and go in. There are dozens of other planes. All indoors, can’t miss it. They have traveling displays all the time, last time I was there it was a period correct Korean MASH unit all set up. SAC also had a cutaway of an aircraft engine from WW2. I stood there and looked at how it all worked and was amazed of what people could make before there was CAD and CNC machining.

Across the way from that is the “Wildlife Safariâ€

Hmmmm, only a 22 hour drive. I'll have to think about it. How high are gas prices going this summer?

Another stop coming in from the west on I80 is my favorite steak house in downtown Sidney, NE. It's called Dudes Steak House, Has a hugh steer up on top the building. I've encouraged many friends to try it and nobody has been disappointed.

Hello Everyone,

I am in the planning phase of the trip and as you know I am driving from easter central Florida, around 1800 miles one way. :( The gathering is planned for 4 days ending on Sunday, are we checking out on sunday morning or we have activities?

Thank you,

 For those of you traveling a long distance, get off the interstate and see the country! Going from one big city to the next can get very boring.

Be sure also to check out some of the historical sites.

Ed, I haven't seen a schedule yet, but usually on Sunday, people are taking off for home. Some that have to be to work on Monday leave pretty early!
I made the mistake of getting up early on Sunday at ITG3 and going down to a coffee shop in Minden. I read the paper, had something to eat and hung out a while, and some of the people I wanted to say goodbye to were already down the road!

I only live 30 miles from Minden so I took my time leaving on Sunday. I was one of the few left Sunday afternoon and there were still people driving in wanting to know what a teardrop was. I thought I would never get out of there!

We are actually considering staying over this year on Sunday evening.

Maybe grab some lawn chair time.

We're also staying Sunday night. Don't have to be at Caprock S.P. in Texas until Thursday.
