Hey Russ How you doing?

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

It's raining now and it sounds real nice. Sometimes I wish I could share the sounds of the rain on the roof with someone and other times I am not wanting to. Feel a little tired and want to fall asleep. Single is good and sometimes not so good. :?

Can't believe how much I am using the furnace today. It seems that when it is moist out it feels colder.

On a second note, I just made a great stuffed porch chop. Well stuffed already from Giant Eagle but I did bake it in the toaster oven. Great! I was going to get rid of the toaster oven but not anymore.

The last couple of weeks i been experimenting on making bean soup. I have used up all the beans I liberated last fall when I was thrashing them at my job. Now have to use store bought ones. Some of my soup is not to bad, IMHO.

And it is not to hard to make. just takes some time to soak them and then about 2 hours of cooking

I can officially say that in my area that winter is over. YEAH! Saturday I put on a fresh tank of propane on and it is still being used as of Wednesday. I just turn it on occasionally to get rid of the dampness and when I need to get dressed. I also am not using as much gas for the generator as I am out more often. Probably will keep one tank full during the summer to ward off some of those chilly mornings that some time show up. I do recall once that on Memorial day weekend that I saw snow. That was over 30 years ago though.

:applause:  Glad your getting warmer weather. You hang in there so we can all say we know you did it. I have threatened to do it myself a few times. Time for me to think about really getting it ready for some real winter camping.

If slow cowboy is doing it in a teardrop then I admire him even more especially out west in. I have to admit that I did some thinking when I purchased my trailer and actually anticipated that I might have one day had to do this but wasn't putting my hope into it. But non the less here I am and I like it.

Now I am looking forward to camping down on the old turnpike near Breezewood. That will be real camping.

Maybe I spoke to soon!!!

Say it ain't so! Winter storm watch issued
Wednesday, March 09, 2011
By Jon Schmitz, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

If the relentless rain and flooding has gotten you down, the National Weather Service has a twist in store -- a winter storm watch has been posted for Western Pennsylvania for Thursday evening through Friday evening.

Six inches or more of snow is possible during that time, along with wind gusts up to 25 mph, meteorologist Lee Hendricks said today. It will be the type of wet, heavy snow that can cause power outages and the winds will create blowing and drifting that will restrict visibility, the weather service said in a statement this afternoon.

The system currently delivering rain and possible flooding to the district had been expected to clear out to the northeast but has adopted more of a northward track. Cold air from Ontario will wrap around the system and converge with warmer air at the surface, creating instability. The system already is loaded with moisture picked up in the Gulf of Mexico and will inhale some more from the Atlantic, Mr. Hendricks said.

And then there's the flooding: the Ohio River is expected to rise and inundate the 10th Street Bypass again by Thursday evening. The forecast calls for a crest at 26 feet on Friday, one foot above flood stage and sufficient to submerge the Parkway East "bathtub" section in Downtown Pittsburgh in time for Friday morning's rush.

Surely this might be the end of it though????????????????????

Hi Russ,

Sounds like you have made it living in your camper this winter. That is an amazing feat.

I looked for pictures, but have not found them. What kind of trailer do you have? Are there any pictures posted that I missed?

Best of luck,

Steve

I keep wondering why I am attracted to traveling so much and living in my trailer. I think now that it is in my blood as my father was a truck driver and I know he loved it as when he came home from his trips that he was always annoyed and dangerous to us all. I actually felt safer with him when he was driving trucks. I felt like I was not in any danger or as comfortable as a just fed lion and I was in its den. Once I get on the road myself I am always happy. Just a note!

Front view looking back showing my sleeping area as well as my over head storage bin. Also the stereo cabinet which is used to hold dirty dishes until I get ready to clean them. TV is in behind the cabinet.
