Have You Named Your Trailer?

Postby Bikerman » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:04 am

Hi, just wondering if anyone has named their trailer? If so, what did you name it? I'm thinking of naming my build "Herodotus" after the Greek historian who traveled extensively.

I think most of us have named our trailers. I like your name, very unique!

I named mine Wanderlust after a poem by Robert Service that my grandfather read to me when I was knee high to a grasshopper.

The profile of our trailer resembles a whale, so that became our theme and he is named "monstero" after the whale in pinocchio.

Bumblebee.

It is round, funny shaped, black and yellow. Seem to fit.

well as a fan of the lord of the rings, I always told curious onlookers that the camper was hobbit size but 2 trolls live in it. My wife therfore named it the shire.

A lot of people have named their trailers, us included.

First one is called Bungalette after the small trailer Lucy looks at in the movie Long Long Trailer, and the current build is named Blue Yonder, due to the time I spent in the USAF and my long association and appreciation of aircraft. Not to mention we picked blue aluminum for the side walls!

Here are a couple threads with names and reasons behind them

Mines the PlyWoodie. Sounds simple enough but it took me 3 years of camping to come up with it.

Two TDs Named...

Postby down under tech » Sun Apr 03, 2011 9:12 pm

Hi Guys: I am building not one, but two TDs right now. The first one I started on is a 4 x 8 Cubby style that I got plans for from Kuffel Creek. It will be covered by aluminum and everything will be silver on the exterior, even the wheels. I chose to call it the "Silver Nugget". This is because I live in northern Nevada and Nevada is known as the Silver State. So, I thought it would look like a very large rolling "Silver Nugget" as it is pulled down the freeway or parked at a camp ground some where.

Number two is the "Road Towed". This TD I bought unfinished. My fiance likes frogs and I let her design the interior of the trailer. She wanted to incorporate frogs into it somehow. We went online and found a cute toad cartoon character. She made a couple renderings of him in cloth material and put them on two pillow cases, one male and one female. I came up with the name using a trailer theme that you tow a TD and it will be on the road. The words fit together but we gave it a slight twist to it. The "Road Toad" has become the "Road Towed".

After a nearly coast to coast adventure. I came up with " Interstate Explorer". I later added graphics relating to the name. Naming is fun. Sometimes its before the build is complete but mine didn't come to me for a couple of years.
I have wisdom beyond my years. In fact, I'm nearly senile.

The teardrop didn't have a name when I had it, although when Sandy D. bought it she named it "Lady Slipper" after the state flower of Minnesota. I named the gypsy trailer "Little Gypsy" because Becca kept giving it sissy names. I have a 5X8 cargo trailer I've dubbed the "Escape Pod" for obvious reasons. 8) I am rebuilding a catboat and have named it "Owl".

The Habanero Escape. When things get too hot to handle, I just wanna go and de-stress somewhere. Doesn't matter if weather is too hot or work and family have me growing extra gray hairs! Load up da teardrop and get out of the heat! It's always somewhere where I claim to have no cell phone service (sometimes it's even the truth!).

For theme materials, I have found a couple pot holders and an apron adorned in chili peppers. I also have chili pepper lights for the EZ up. I am slowly finding chili pepper things in the wild. Bed sheets would be way cool (no, I ain't sewing any mahself!).

Hugs,
