Dant,

Your CT has the look of quality. Nice Unit! I especially like the fiber glass end caps on the front rounding the walls and roof. Much nicer appearance than the flat roof I see on a lot of v noses. I'm betting you will be happy with this outfit. Nice job! best of luck to you sir...

An option is to mount the Optima under the trailer or purchase an AGM battery of a different size and mount that under the trailer. Like the Optima, the AGM batteries can be mounted on their sides.

Thanks. I went to Costco and when I compared the price and the amp hours, it was ridiculous. 3 x the money for [very] roughly half the amp hours. Went with the largest 12 volt lead acid deep cycle at 1/3 the pricev

I may or may not vent it to the outside. I find it hard to be concerned considering my boat and many others do not have their house batteries totally isolated and vented to the outside. The CT has much more ventilation.

Thanks Jeff. I really like it. Still futzing around. Need to mount propane tank bracket and some kind of tonneau cover for the Tacoma. Can't believe they want $750 for a hard cover. I'm building my own out of 1/4" ABS, braced with 1" sq aluminum tubing. Need to figure out how to lock the tail gate.

Wire the battery and a couple reading lights, and I'm good to go 4/21 for Baja for 6 weeks via vista with the kids in West Hollywood. Can't wait. I'm a happy camper

Both beautiful places. Love the local food too........

Watch out for the phony federally check points. Some low life thieves are setting them up in different places to prey on tourist. If you are familiar with real Federally check points, you will be able to tell the difference by the lack of military vehicles and the lack of more semi-permanent accommodations.

 Nice. Bahia de Los Angeles is about the only place I haven't been in Baja. I really liked Puertocitos just south of San Felipe before the road turns to dirt. The hot spring there is fabulous, right at the high tide level and right beside the little RV park. It was December and rainy. The hot spring was fabulous.

Thanks. Haven't run into those, but it's been a few years since my last motorcycle or van trip thru Mexico. I've been stopped at many Army check points, sometimes they're only 10 or 20 miles apart. Frequently very rag tag looking affairs with no buildings in sight. So I'm not sure I COULD tell them from the real thing. Never had unpleasant experience so far

Can't remember ever seeing one of those roadside checkpoints sans buildings, in Baja

I"m involved in professional Off-Road Racing, so I frequent Baja regularly. Almost all official fed checkpoints will have sand bags along the side of the road to keep persons from running the checkpoint, sometimes shade tents, several young kids in uniform with AK47s and a military vehicle or two. Also, the board of nails attached to a road to drag across the Hwy, pulled by a young kid sitting in a chair or hiding behind a stack of sand bags. The board of nails is just in case someone chooses not to stop. When they stop you, offer to open everything up and show them. Take few old magazines that may be of interest and some extra small water bottles to give them. They always appreciate the kind gesture and may remember you on your return. If you have stickers or old posters, they love them. They are almost as good as cash to the kids.

The corrupt checkpoints will have almost none of the above. They want to be quick and readily mobile. They are primarily interested in cash. So, if you keep all but $20 - $40 dollars or so in a concealed location, you should be good. They are looking for the wads of $100s. They seldom steel vehicles (you have to have a vehicle they can use for drug transport,) but have been known to take personal property if they find great interest in it. Allin all, it has not stopped me from traveling to Baja, I'm just more cautious and try to travel in pairs/groups with communication radios.

Also, there is pretty good cell phone coverage in the more populated areas and hwys. Note the emergency numbers on the roadside signs as you travel the toll road south, and put this number in your telephone. It has been known to come n handy by American tourist.

I love the locals in Baja, great people, hard working and polite. But as in any country, you will have your degenerates that prefer to prey on others than make an honest living.

:) What's worse is seeing my picture 3 X.

Yeah, I tried to post that and got the DEBUG notice and nothing happened. Then the system finally upchucked.

Driving to work on Thursday morning, I saw a tractor-trailer with this TrailerTail setup on the rear doors:

I know that Prem has been trying to find the perfect solution to rear-end drag on his trailers, and this is something that apparently works and is easy to clone onto a CT (with either ramp or barn doors) for personal use.....
