The difference between web sites

Postby pete42 » Thu Apr 14, 2011 8:27 am

Difference between two web sites.

I use to hang out on another web site that dealt with trailers and things dealing with them.

Last night I checked them out seems the one's who were always criticizing others are still doing it and it makes for a less than friendly site.

I think what makes this site so great is we all share a love for TD's, TTT's, and CT's plus the trailers that fall into these guide lines like Steve's Little Gypsy.

It seems to me we are a more focused group, not that we don't like doing other things besides building we do, but the over all tone is much more pleasent.

for that I thank Mike and everyone who makes this site what it is. :applause:

am I right or just full of it?

No.... You are not full of it ..Maybe only 1/3 full of it.... Just kidding...

Sites take on a personality usually distilled from the people who frequent it.... IF a site is deemed argumentative its usually because the people who frequent are always angry and are always accusing others of being wrong or what ever....

A laid back site is where most people ask questions and answers come from knowledge and common love of site "subject"and if one wants to argue most things are usually short lived as more relaxed, intelligent people see beyond any flairs or differences....

Most people choose to stay with a site because it "fits" their concepts of life or lifestyle or personalities...

I visit many, enjoy a few , post on some (even have my own forum- not trailer oriented though)...

It's tough to have an expanded sense of self when you have a small trailer or a tear drop.

Thanks to the mods who keep this place as friendly as Mayberry.

That little line said a lot !

There are some folk on here with rather impressive credentials. The skills and talents on this forum are not to be denied. It seems a lot of us are baby boomers. I would guess the median age to be somewhere mid 40 ish. This maturity helps to keep things mild mannered as well.

In the 4 years and 5500+ posts I have had only 2 minor flairs of aggrivation that were brought to lite. A few more I simply turned away from, but this litle group has become great friends. Out of it I have gained dozens and dozens of camping buddies and several very close best friends, the kind of best friends you can call at midnight stranded on the road and they will actually come rescue you. What is that kind of social networking worth?

I also would like to thank all of the admin's that work behind the scenes to help keep things well oiled and running smooth.

Flat out..... I would not be building a teardrop without this site.

Without the site:

-I didn't know what they were.

-I didn't know people could build them.

-I didn't know who to talk to for advice.

I concur with the OP... this site is a nurturing place.
Kudos.

i wanna chime in and thank every body here for all inspiration when i was building, now that i'm changing stuff robbing ideas from all the lil' campers i've seen here, and a big thanks for answering all my dumb questions.
when i do have a question, there seems to be a lot of pretty sharp minds out there firing back all the info i would not be able to find elsewhere

Forum moderators also make a big difference. I appreciate the moderators on this forum as they are not afraid of jumping in and correcting inappropriate communication.
