Looking for your opinions...Updated 5/6/11 new items

Postby Woodbutcher » Sat Apr 23, 2011 7:14 pm

I did a large cabinet job for a client . After finishing it I had a pile of cut offs left over. The material is called Europly . It has 15 plys of Birch and Alder with Walnut on the outside. Each sheet cost 125.00 so I could not bear to throw it out. So what do you do with a pile of cutoffs you ask?

Well this is what I came up with.......Do you like cheese?

Here is a shot showing the plys.

I made 6 just to see how long they took to make. The knife pulls out to cut sausage or cheese. Oiled them with mineral oil.

What do you think? Would you buy something like this? I thought of making a couple other profiles of vintage trailers, to appeal to more people, not just Teardrop owners. As it stands now I would have to get about 18.00 each with the knife. Is that to much ,to little, help me out. I could do a couple hundred before I have to buy more wood.

Thanks for looking?
Steve

Good use of a nice material left over. Maybe even explore making other matching things too. Like a napkin holder. Things are always more attracrtive to people as a set.

I think you should start selling these at every camping event Steve! What a terrific item!
