I need your opinion.

If I were to do a set of plans to sell on ebay, to help pay for the forum, and if you were a newbie who suddenly just got interested in those tiny trailers, which trailer plans would you be most inclined to buy on ebay?

I think that the pop up stuff is a little intimidating to a first time builder.
I would keep the roof structure as simple as possible.

Mike, would each one be of a width that would have the bed running lengthwise? Just thinking about bed size is why I ask.

The 8' Standie would have the bed running crosswise. Of course that only gives you 72" for sleeping if you build on a 4x8. 78" if you build on a 5x8.

The 10' standie, as shown, has the bed running lengthwise, and it's a queen. If you rotated it 90 degrees, it would be the same as the 8' standie. And with the extra 2 feet you could put in a galley, in the back, or a table in front of the bed.

 Have I said how much we really enjoy all the room in ours. Problem is I can't pull it with my car. Lots of folks out there who don't want to pull 2000#

Perhaps an option in the listing!

I voted other thinking that to pay for the forum couldn't you put all of them on one disc and do it that way

I have to say Droid has an interesting idea

I'd like to add something Mike. Afer consulting with the highest authority available (DW), she likes the 10' standy for a newbie. Simpler construction, still light weight and a queen size bed. She's an outdoor cooking style camper, so the small interior galley area is good with her. Just another $.02 worth.

I like all the sizes offered.
A CD with all the plans on it while sounds like a bargain for the buyer it doesn't make sense for the seller.
for the seller to make money he would have to sell a lot of them
but on the other hand a buyer may buy a CD with all the plans rather having to buy two or more CDs
would the CD plans include a cad program or would it be PDF?
I'm glad it's not my decision to make

Though I don't think the 4X4X8 Teardrop will ever go out of fashion...and I still manufacture them.

A lot of my Business has shifted to,

"10' long standie, with porta potty and "Minimal" inside galley" (Basically "Scottys" with at least a 54" wide bed)

I have done this for many Teardrop owners.

Years ago I had to go to a seminar with a bunch of stuffed shirts blabering away for hours, but there was one guy who made a statement about people wanting/buying RV's.

And it really made sense.

Over the years your RV needs will Change.

And that to me meant either Moving up...or moving down, but if you stay with the program, moving is inevitable.

Everything changes.

Happy Trails

I think I disagree with you, at least to a point. if all the plans are on separate cds, then you will sell a few of each. but if all the plans are on one cd then all of the different interest groups come together to buy the one cd, sales should be close to the same, assuming that the price is about the same for the cd with one set of plans vs all the plans. in addition, the buyer would think he is getting a bargain by buying all the plans together. also, the buyer might find it reassuring that if he decides he does not like one set of plans he has (x) number of other plans to choose from. it would cost the forum about the same to produce a cd with one set of plans as with all of them, but the desirability of the end product would be greater.

This was harder than I thought. I voted for the 10' standie, but I would build the 12' giant tear. Having already built my tear, a standie is what I want next, probably 12'. But, if I were looking at a first build I believe the 10' would be a little less intimidating. To me, the 8' looks too cramped and difficult to build.
But, I do like the idea of all four to a cd.

I'm not excited about an inside galley, but my wife thinks it would be nice to have in inclement weather. Goodness knows we've seen some of that while camping! Same is true of the port-a-potty. Both put the bed and odors too close together for my liking.

My desires for a standie or slouchy would be:

Permanent bed. (I hate having to make and unmake a bed every day)

Bed must be 78" long (I am 76" long). 80" would be ideal. Access from either side a plus!

Dinette for two (mostly to play cards in inclement weather)

Clothes closet for hanging at least one suit and one dress (we have taken our teardrop as our rolling bedroom, and had to dress up in somebody's house later)

Roll out storage under the permanent bed for Camp Chef stove, umbrella, etc.

Storage for most cooking utensils, dishes, pots and pans.

Inside sink, though not necessary, would be nice.

Ability to store in a garage. I've been thinking about creating a mount for a torsion axle that would allow it to be unlocked and rotated to raise the tires into the body, lowering the ground clearance to a few inches for storing in a garage. It would waste a bit of interior space, but if it saves me $100 a month storage fees, it might be worthwhile.

What if we just asked our members to step up and help support the forum? I'll bet if every member ponied up a fairly small amount, it would end up being enough to run the forum just fine!
