The Beetle in the picture appears to be a '66 which would have had a 1300 cc 50hp engine if it were stock. A 63 would not have the sloted wheels, the flat hubcaps, and the windows would have been smaller and the vent wing post would be vertical rather than slanted back-a-wards. A 64 can't be distinguished from a 63 from the front. A 65 would have the big windows, slanted vent wing post, and rounded hub caps. A 67 would have the sealed beam headlights w/o the glass cover and the lights would be vertical rather than with the sloped covers.
Only a '66 VW (unless someone had modified perhaps a 65 or 67) would appear as the one in the picture does.
