finished my side tables

Postby BillZ » Wed May 18, 2011 8:03 pm

Not sure which topic to post this in. I didn't build the camper so a build thread didn't seem appropriate. A mod is free to move it if need be.

After asking around, I decided to make rectangular tables rather than one that ends in a semi-circle. A rectangle made it easier to trim around the edge, covering the plys.

I had some nice 1/4" birch ply scraps that I bought from a guy off craigslist. Glued 2 together to make 1/2" plywood, cut and trimmed it with 1x2 oak. That goes with the camper, which has oak sides and trim with a birch top. I then sanded and stained it to match.

the attachments were already on the camper. I got the matching attachment for the table and bought the legs from Scott at Compact Camping Concepts.

Pretty happy with them so far and can't wait to give them a real test soon. Thanks to those who showed me their side tables.

Nice tables. Are the legs adjustable?

They look great. What did you use for the hardware on the adjustable leg and the attachment to your trailer?

You can get the hardware here:
http://compactcampingconcepts.com/sidetable.htm

A member of the TTT forum owns the company. He goes by schaney.

He uses paypal for payment and my order was filled and shipped out very quickly.

Bill,
Your side table looks great! You'll love how much extra space you'll have with it.

Really nice work. I love it.

How did you attach your table to the exterior of your trailer?

Thanks!
If you look at the link in my last post you will see an item called "side table mounting bracket".

Thanks so much for that, Bill. I looked at your tables and they are beautiful. I checked on schaney's site and I think I will purchase his hardware. I was also looking at those brackets for the fixed mount table and thinking that with a couple of lengths of stainless tubing they would be great for hatch support poles also.

I like it!

Taking the extra time to make things match really does show in the final product.
It is so easy at the end of a long build to "just slap something on there" so you can be done.
Your job shows that you care about quality and appearance.

Well done.... I was thinking of adding a side table too.... I found this one on a vintage trailer.
93312 closed note the back of the table is the same as the trailers side pattern.

93311 open

Yours look more useful the ones above would not interfere when driving down the road to rear vision. Yours is removed when trailing .... how did you mount it.
Wish you were using the gallery on the forum then I could see how you built it is you had a series of photo's.

Nice job anyway
