$9 or so from Lowes for 2, they use one AA battery and are still going strong the next morning.

I liked the forward of the door look too, but realized the door would block the light when open, or worse, crash into it, so function overruled form or on that one.

...check out http://stores.ebay.com/R-and-P-Carriages-Trailer-Sales ...they have a huge selection of lights...incandescent, fluorescent, and LED...there are lots of lights there that can be adapted for your use and I give them MADJACK'S AAA+++rating as a vendor...they have lots of trailer parts as well...good folks to deal with...
...as far as a door or porch lite, we use a pair of these Amazon Clicky ...add a little citronella to them and you have bug free lighting

Have you considered using a wireless remote system instead of a switch?

This way you would be able to turn them on without opening the door.

After a lengthy, fruitless search for some Bargman 80-series porch lights, I've found these, the Omega model from Command Electronics, which are very similar. Black base, amber lens, switched. Yeehaw!

Anyone done business with Command Electronics in Schoolcraft, MI, by any chance?

Just psyched to be at the porch light stage. :vroom:
