Oregon Trail'R

Postby 4123 » Thu Jun 02, 2011 1:41 pm

Hi everyone.

Its been a while since I've posted here. I've been busy helping take care of my 98 year old Mom who fell and broke her hip. (2nd time in 8 months) She's doing well. She is very tough...

I'm here to help introduce two of my son's ('oregonguy' & 'sawyer' on this forum) new Teardrop Business. "Oregon Trail'R"
Check out oregonguy's post at

Click on his link and you will see LOTS of build photos and teardrop related stuff there....

They are doing a great job on their first build using the finest materials and some new innovated ideas. We are all hoping they do well.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the plug, Pop! I just wanted to add real quick that Jon and I are about 75% finished with our first production model teardrop. We have been working on designs/concepts since last fall, and have been about 3 months into this trailer so far, putting lots of effort into making sure that every step is well thought out, every piece of material hand selected, and every cut precise. We are using very high quality components, materials, fasteners, glues, sealants, etc. We also place great importance on keeping all of our tools well-tuned and we build jigs wherever possible to be able to easily re-create every part with efficiency and precision.

We fully realize that this site is comprised largely of folks who build their own teardrops, and we absolutely love the do-it-yourself spirit, that's how we got to this point... Be both built our own personal teardrops for our families, and enjoyed the process, community, and lifestyle so much that we thought we'd try to make a living at it!

I would love to encourage any and all teardrop enthusiasts with a few minutes to spare to check out our website (still in rough form) and take a look at our build pics...

Great pics! It looks like you guys have a great concept. The workmanship looks very good. I especially liked the jig you made for building frames and I loved the idea of using dados for the counter and partitions. I got some great ideas for my own build. You've certainly put a lot of effort into this. I've bookmarked your web site. I look forward to seeing the finished product. If I'm ever in the market to buy....

Is Alita your quality assurance specialist or the model for your sales brochure? It was hard to tell.

By the way, nice welds.

Thanks Wayne. For the record, Alita is multi-talented...she does quality assurance, spokes-modeling, and markets our trailers to the other toddlers at her daycare.

I'm glad you were able to get some good ideas for your own build. We have certainly borrowed our share of ideas from other builders too, that's what this forum is all about.
