when I go camping I generally like to go wk days

I find there are less wild and load people and many wait for the wkend. This July we are going to try out a new KOA for Wed, Thur, Fri. It is just above Santa Paula california. Which is above LA. It is close to home and may be the place to get away to if we want a hot shower. But there are many NP that are near too.

and week days have more openings too.

Weekends are fun for Gatherings but most include Thru and Fri for those folk who have wkends off.

I work in retail so weekends are out unless I ask off way before.
But week days the boss says ok to.

Weekends also are more likely to have a big event making unplanned camping a little harder.

I prefer camping mid week, especially in state parks. Here in No. Calif there are often no spaces on weekends and lots of spaces mid week.

In fact next week, I'm going camping Tuesday through Friday.

I agree with you that I would rather go camping midweek instead of weekends. I prefer to have a quiet campground and I don't have to tolerate other people's lack of knowledge. The last time I went camping the people in the site next to us could not understand why the bears kept going through their campground at night. They "only" left a "little" food out for the "squirrels"! DUHHHH!!!! That also means they left the food out for the bears... Their children were annoying too! They kept walking, no, running through our campsite. I was always taught to stay out of others' campsites. Apparently that isn't taught to some children. So, if I go midweek there is less of a chance of running into the uneducated.

Don't get me wrong, I've met many GREAT people when I'm out camping, unfortunately I've also run into some terrible people too. It just takes a few to spoil things for everyone. I just wish I wasn't a Monday to Friday employee.

When I was young and working 10 hours a day and 8 on saturday, boy was I dumb, the only time we had was weekends or what was left of the weekend.

I would take the trailer down to my local SP friday night leave for work from there saturday morning.

my wife would meet me there when we both got off work saturday

now I find I don't like taking small trips I don't have anything to get away from.

but when I do head out to say lake Erie or up north to visit relatives I like to do it during the mid or early week days.

I enjoy camping all the time! Though I agree during the week you're more likely to have more space to yourself.

I also prefer runing the rivers during the week too if at all possible - less traffic on the water and less outfitters getting in your way. It always seems that the water levels hit the highest during the week while I'm sitting in my office!

We love to camp mid week and one reason is that in Ohio once you have the Golden Buckeye card (age 60) camping in state parks is half price mid week!
One of the advantages of being married to a teacher is June July and August.

Another reason I like to go early on weekdays and set up camp, is that it gives a person a chance to cruise the campground and get the best spot. And to me that is the site that is the most private. It keeps the little rug rats, and ankle biters (little kids) away as much as possible. And the obnoxious people that are there on weekends. Example: Thank god I was at the other end of the campground, but this guy fired up one of those $200, 4000 watt generator types!!! Damn, that is a loud mother. Beyond rude. They are great to have if you live in the woods by yourself. But, geezzz not in a campground where all in the near vicinity can hear it. Yes on getting to a camp site way early.

I've spent several unpleasant Saturday nights lying awake at a state/county campground listening to large groups "partying hearty" into the wee, wee hours of the morning. Loud music, drinking and more, I'm sure. I go to bed early (my camping motto is that you can retire for the night with honor if you manage to stay up until at least 9:30 pm), so I have a long history of falling asleep listening to people chatting and laughing around a campfire, which is kind of pleasant way to fall asleep.

Being kept awake until 3 or 4 in the morning by those who come to parks specifically for loud partying on Saturday night is beyond obnoxious. In both instances, there was no way to contact the park rangers, and I'm not inclined to ask drunk people to be quiet. In one instance they closed up shop and finally went to bed because it started to rain.

So yes, two thumbs up for camping during the week, if possible and avoiding the noise makers.

We used to live in CA and tent camp in the mountains. We went on weekends only because we worked during the work week. One particular weekend I took the girls by myself. There was a group of people camping across from us (not too close, but not far enough). They were at the campfire till late. My girls and I went to sleep. At about 1am I heard this sound. It sounded like they were smashing their beer cans on the ground. I waited and waited, but they didn't stop. I unzipped my tent and yelled for them to knock it off and be quiet (not in those words). The next morning the girls and I were ready to start breakfast and found our coolers were broken into. The girls had these Chinese crackers and chips in a "to go" container. The animals robbed us of our mallows and our chips and hot dogs, etc... The beer can crunching sound was the animals eating the Chinese soy crackers (it was the "to go" container). That was when I learned animals could break into coolers... That was also when I learned the only loud person at the campground that night was ME!!!
