Things that don't fit anywhere else...

The weather has been windy and dry here in Albuquerque. :?
Right now at 9:05 am it is 68 with a hight predicted ot 89. Now if I all that smoke from AZ would go away and if it would rain that would be great.

Northeast Texas is not under a burn ban, and we've had pretty good rains over the last few months -- and record snows in January and February.

Southern and Western Texas are hurting bad for rain.

We are under stage one water restrictions in my area, but that is because without them, people will waste tremendous amounts of water on their lawns, and we'll run short of supply by July and August, when it doesn't rain here.

In my city, ANY new automatic sprinkler systems have to use Smart Controllers, which receive radio signals that use weather data and forecasts to adjust the controllers. We just installed them on our HOA systems, and they are great.

The forecast here today is for a high of 102, which will be our first official triple-digit day where I live. That shouldn't happen until the last days of June, or into July.

We had the tease of rain last evening but only got the rumbles of thunder....no rain. Next time maybe.

Sandy, have you been following Gulf water temperatures? They are already in the mid to high 80s. If any hurricanes get into the Gulf this year, they are going to have some rich fuel. :frightened:

57 was the high with rain falling (of course) today. Summer usually starts in the middle of July and goes halfway into September. Tomato growing can be challenging.

This has been a very wet year and the slugs are thriving. So is the moss.

CD,
That is what we have been talking about, LOTS. Alvin seems like a nice little country town but we are dang close to the Gulf. Our weather has been very peculiar lately, I'm afraid our main TV viewing with be the Weather Channel. This hot weather has got to be heating up the Gulf making it prime for hurricanes. Don't want to go through another one like IKE, we had 8 huge burn piles that took months to get rid of.

We hit 93 today, which is a rarity for us. Last week we had to cover the plants, it was down into the 30's. Supposed to storm tonight or tomorrow and go back down into the 60's. Luckily we live by lots of lakes. Tonight we all went down to the beach.Took the dog so she could go for a swim. Within a few minutes, the tiny beach filled there were 9 dogs in the water running after balls and sticks!

The blower relay in my Town Car had been out for the past month, and I live in the Dallas area. Of course being a newish car, the part was $100 and 2 hrs labor... on my 74 Monte Carlo would be a $15 part and a 5 min install, but that's another story....

It was so frustrating because the AC was working fine, and if you put your face right up to the vent, you could barely feel that cold air, it just wouldn't blow. Well after last week, I got fed up. I still did not have the money to do it, so I temporarily wired it up direct with the ignition and it is working good now. I figure with this heat, when you turn on the car, the blower is going to be on high the whole time anyway.

I'll replace the relay in the fall once it cools off, but that was a hot month without it. I would wear a different shirt on my way into the office and change when I got there, and going to my friends in Terrell an hour and 15 min away for my weekly BBQ stopped being so fun LOL...

So good to have cold air again... :fan:

Today on the north Oregon coast it was in the low 60s with a little mist then some sun in the afternoon
I would enjoy a little more sun and temps in the 70s or 80s

Good morning,
About to leave for my morning walk (yuk) and stopped to check the weather, ya never know, today may be the day we get our seriously needed rain....NOT! Like yesterday and tomorrow, it is gonna be hot again, 100 degrees hot. Wow Lord, show us some mercy, just a little bit please. I might have to pull out the margarita machine and invite some friends over for a rain dance.

I woke up last night to a major gully washer! Didn't change the weather the next day, but it definitely rained here!

59 for the high today. It rained off and on. I thought about starting a fire in the woodstove, but didn't. Summer usually occurs in July and August and maybe September.

Slo, My little sister is working up at Glacier Bay National Park, and I think it is amazing the difference in climates between here and there!
